As if there weren’t already enough reasons to consider political correctness a curse upon our nation, a new campaign of guilt is being propagated by the far left.
For years, liberals in America have been attempting to divide and conquer the young, impressionable voter bases that represent their very last hope for relevance. The simplest way for this to occur is for the progressives to keep on “progressing”, by creating absurd new problems that never previously existed, give them scientific-sounding names, and then cram them down the throats of the American populace. Guilt plays an enormous part in this, and with good reason.
As America moves toward the hope of a racism-free society, the left’s bigotry boogeyman is fading into obscurity, and failing to frighten the millennial masses in the usual manner. Now, once they’ve determined that you are not racist, that can’t mean that you’re completely out of the woods. Otherwise, what excuse would the left then be using to engage with you? Enter “cultural appropriation”.
The idea of cultural appropriation is simple, in theory, but spans an enormous variety of actions. Racism is telling African Americans where they are allowed to listen to music. Cultural Appropriation is cherrypicking the appealing parts of African American music and using them in mainstream white music, (whatever that is). The left’s most overused example is likely Elvis Presley, who the liberals argue was making money off of black music, so to speak.
The problem is that the left has taken this example to the microscopic level, attempting to divide American culture down racial lines. For example, black supremacists who believe white Americans should adhere to certain rules while listening to hip hop.
In reality, there isn’t this vast spectrum of racism that the left wants us to imagine, where every minute fashion choice or societal sway is a form of bigotry. This certainly hasn’t stopped them from trying, however, and yoga is the latest victim of their bizarre ideology.
“Shreena Gandhi, a religious studies professor at Michigan State, claims in an article she recently co-authored that Americans who practice yoga are contributing to white supremacy and promote the ‘yoga industrial complex.’
“White Americans should learn yoga’s history, acknowledge the cultural appropriation they engage in and possibly reduce the cost of yoga classes for poor people, a group that often includes people of color and ‘recent immigrants, such as Indian women to whom this practice rightfully belongs,’ Gandhi argued.
“She co-authored the piece titled ‘Yoga and the Roots of Cultural Appropriation,’ with Lillie Wolff, a self-described ‘anti-racist white Jewish organizer, facilitator, and healer,’ who has called for ‘decolonizing’ yoga, the College Fix reported.
“The two argued ‘the explosion of yoga studios, yoga video, apps, yoga pants, and other yoga swag over the last two decades is evidence’ of the ‘(mis)appropriation of yoga’ that ‘is part of systemic racism’ built on ‘the labor of black people and people of the global south.’”
This is yet another example of a liberal university professor attempting to create controversy out of nothing in order to pursue higher career aspirations.
The left’s ability to warp anything into racism is getting to be a very real problem for the voices of reason within society. They shout with a ferocity and intent that only stifles discussion and demeans the opponent, completely destroying any chance there was for a meaningful and constructive conversation.
In fact, you could say that the left is inherently uptight about the melting pot ideals of America.
We’ve heard that yoga is good for that sort of stress.
