Sure, as Americans with the freedom of speech there will always be a certain amount of disagreement over the way a particular thing should be, but isn’t that all just part of the fun?
This is what freedom really is; the idea that anyone can say something that they believe, whether or not you agree. In fact, it simply doesn’t matter if you like it or not. There’s no room for that sort of emotional response in freedom. This means that, as you continue down this rabbit hole, you also have no right to not be offended. The sheer idea that this could occur runs counter to the realities of freedom, and is undoubtedly censorship – something fairly well forbidden by the First Amendment except in extreme cases.
So, when the left decides that they want to go around vociferously promoting the idea that we should wholly abolish the department of Immigration Customs and Enforcement, we have to sit back and let them push all of the air out of their lungs, attempting to choose some historical evil to compare their latest foe with.
Given that the abolishment of ICE would be akin to Ferguson, Missouri shutting down the police station during their race riots in order to give police brutality a “time out”, we can simply sit back and let the left shout until they are blue in the face and then hit them with a heaping dose of reality, straight from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
“Calls to abolish ICE are an insult to these heroic law enforcement officers who make sacrifices every day to secure our borders, enforce our laws, and protect our safety and security,” the White House said in a press release Wednesday, which included the slogan: “Save ICE.”
While once limited to protest placards and left-wing online activists, the calls to abolish the agency have ramped up in recent weeks in the wake of the controversy surrounding the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy on prosecuting all illegal border crossers.
Of course, the liberal left was ready to pounce as soon as the Trump administration announced the policy…as they are with all Trump policies.
Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., all floated as possible 2020 presidential candidates, have backed the call to abolish the agency.
“The president’s deeply immoral actions have made it obvious we need to rebuild our immigration system from top to bottom starting by replacing ICE with something that reflects our morality and that works,” Warren said on Saturday.
The White House issued a lengthy release that outlined the consequences of abolishing the agency.
“Abolishing ICE would mean open borders because it would eliminate the agency responsible for removing people who enter or remain in our country illegally, including drug dealers; gang members; and child molesters, rapists, and other sex offenders,” the release said.
This is yet another example of carte blanche “resistance” schtick manifesting itself in vitriolic arguments over the rule of law – a constant in any civilized society that has been largely marginalized by the radicalization of the liberal masses.
