❖ Venezuela is an avoidable human tragedy. A couple million Venezuelans have already left that country—in search of food. The oil-rich country is one of the wealthiest in our hemisphere. But a decade or two of socialism/communism has ground their economy to a halt. John Tamny is the director of FreedomWork’s Center for Economic Freedom and the author of the new book, The End of Work. Tamny wrote a recent piece for Real Clear Markets on the subject of the crisis Venezuela. He notes: “So while news accounts indicate that Venezuela is in desperate shape, the creation of money for the sake of it will do nothing to fix what’s wrong. Only economic freedom will alter the outlook, after which the supply of money in Venezuela will rise rapidly through market forces, and without regard to the actions of superfluous central banks.” John Tamny joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the case of Venezuela.
❖ Today the social media big techs censor Infowars’ Alex Jones, a bit of a nutcase—in the opinion of many people. But if they curb his free speech on their platforms, who will they censor tomorrow? Jarrett Stepman, a writer for the Heritage Foundation’s dailysignal.com, wrote an article on this, “Censorship of Infowars Exposes Larger Problem of Silicon Valley Bias.” Stepman notes, “Private companies can, of course, censor whomever they like, but the pattern of behavior from Silicon Valley toward speech in general—and continual inability to treat conservative views fairly on their extremely powerful platforms—is rightly concerning to conservatives who use those platforms.” Jarrett Stepman joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this growing trend of the social media gatekeepers censoring conservative content. www.dailysignal.com

Kavanaugh also worked on a number of high-profile South Florida cases… Coffey said he knows Kavanaugh and the way he works.” Coffey says of President Trump’s second nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court: “He’s absolutely a brilliant, legal mind and one of the best legal writers in America today.” Coffey also notes that “[Paul] Manafort’s Trial had no connection to President Trump or the Russia investigation.” Coffey is a former U.S. Attorney, who has often been a guest on various television outlets, including CNN, FOX, and MSNBC. On this portion of Vocal Point, Jerry Newcombe has a visit with Kendall Coffey for his reflections on the Kavanaugh appointment and on the Manafort trial.
