UPDATE: Mom who Berated, Cursed, and Mocked Young Child for “Voting” for Trump – Now in Trouble with the Law!

Late Thursday night/early Friday morning we brought you the sad story of a family in Texas whose lives may have been upended by the election. No, it wasn’t Donald Trump’s fault; it was a problem of their own making.

Here’s the gist of the story from Friday:

A mom discovered that her young son had voted for Mr. Trump in an elementary school election and had decided to teach him a lesson in the most disgusting way possible. She yelled at him, cursed at him, and told him to leave her house as she excoriated him for his fake vote. As her son cried, begged, and apologized the woman laughed at him and mocked him for his poor decision.

Trending: Science is Settled

Here’s the video – please be forewarned this is heartbreaking to watch. There is foul language and a child being verbally tormented.

Many of our readers commented and emailed wondering if the local police had been identified and if the Texas Child Protective Services had gotten involved. Well, now we have an update to the story and many of you will be happy to learn that the police have gotten involved to ensure the children’s protection.

The folks at Justice for Children without Voices “have spoken to Detective Luerra with Arcola Police Department and confirmed that the children seen in the video are safe and a case now has been opened. Arcola Police Department is diligently working with CPS and the District Attorney’s Office.

We want to send a HUGE thank you to Deputy Fisherhill and Detective Luerra for the fast response in making sure these children are safe. And a huge thank you to all of our members who gave this child a voice and helped us get the info to the correct investigating department. We look forward to working with this department, and with all of you, in the future as we advocate for our children and ensure them a voice! Thank you!

“When in the course of raising awareness, alarmism occurs, we would do well, as a civilized society, to acknowledge those alarming statistics and act accordingly. We should never allow ourselves to believe falsely that awareness is enough when action is required.”

Anyone who normally follows Consitution.com knows that we are not generally supportive of greater government involvement in anything, particularly in our families. However, this case is so egregious, so unnerving that it was clearly necessary for Child Protective Services (CPS) to get involved. These children were terrified by their mother, cursed at, mocked, and most certainly will bear the scars of this incident for years to come. We do hope the family can be kept together and that the wounds can be mended… but this was not a situation that could be left unchecked. We hope the authorities in Texas will keep an eye on this, because we’ll most certainly keep watching for updates.

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
