The political establishment is running scared right now, and Mitch McConnell’s latest excuse for his own incompetence is staggeringly silly.
A message was sent to the federal government when the American people resoundingly rejected democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in favor of Donald Trump back in November 2016: Business as usual in Washington D.C. has come to an end.
Trump, for what it’s worth, is likely the most unconventional President of our modern era, and possibly all time. With his political experience minimal, Trump approaches the role of the government much the way any American would, except with a keen eye for how our lawmakers can either promote U.S. business, or sell out their voters to lobbyist and special interest groups.
The Donald was ready to dump that systemic class warfare, drain the swamp, and return the power back to We The People.
Trump’s election was, in essence, a wakeup call to Washington D.C. Either the politicos on Capitol Hill would fall in line behind the ambitious President, or they would be run over by their own constituents who chose Donald Trump to lead the charge. Now that Congress has failed the President on several key campaign initiatives, it appears that the legislative branch has made its choice.
Mitch McConnell, however, is now blaming the President for Congress’ stalling act…something that will surely spawn even more calls for McConnell to be ousted.
“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) warned against ‘excessive expectations’ set by President Donald Trump ‘and others’ for Republican senators.
“At a Rotary Club gathering in Kentucky on Monday, McConnell expressed irritation with what he described as a ‘storyline’ among Republican voters of ineffective Republican senators.
“McConnell spoke of legislative ‘complexity’ and ‘artificial deadlines’ while implying that Republican senators were conducting themselves effectively and honorably.”
And we thought that the democrats were whiny.
What has truly been stalling the President’s agenda are turncoat republicans such as McConnell and John “Songbird” McCain, who have continued to side with the liberal “resistance” to the President in order to protect their own lobbyist kickbacks…particularly when it comes to healthcare and the Big Pharmaceutical industry.
The reality of the situation is fairly simple, yet it must be stated for Congress to understand: Donald Trump was elected precisely so that this nonsense would end. By refusing to comply with the President’s wishes, McConnell, McCain, and others are simply defying the will of We The People.
These do-nothing congressmen should remind themselves what happened to British tea merchants in Boston Harbor when they too defied the will of We The People.
