One of President Donald Trump’s major campaign promises was to create an environment in which America could better provide for herself, and that is exactly what he is doing with his latest executive order.
For years, liberal environmentalists have worked to stymy America’s ability to utilize the full gamut of her resources. Citing bunk science and latching onto emotionally charged images of rare environmental disasters, the propaganda emanating from the left has been weaponized to an unfathomable degree. The operating assumption among many of the nation’s younger democrats is that any extraction of natural resources will cause Polar Bears to die horribly painful deaths and ducks to magically become coated in oil on a beach somewhere.
In reality, however, the current regulations regarding the safe and effective operation of these extraction sites allows for our country to effectively gather these necessary resources with very few accidents. The perception has merely been warped by the left in an attempt to bolster their own ecological stranglehold on the federal government. This is precisely why the United States suffers from some of the most restrictive laws in the world regarding where and when we can gather natural resources.
Now, Donald Trump is set to make major adjustments to this restrictive practice, and make America great again in the process.
“With one day left to rack up accomplishments before he reaches his 100th day in office, Trump will order his interior secretary to review an Obama-era plan that dictates which locations are open to offshore drilling, with the goal of the new administration to expand operations.
“It’s part of Trump’s promise to unleash the nation’s energy reserves in an effort to reduce reliance on foreign oil and to spur jobs, regardless of fierce opposition from environmental activists, who say offshore drilling harms whales, walruses and other wildlife and exacerbates global warming.
“‘This order will cement our nation’s position as a global energy leader and foster energy security for the benefit of American people, without removing any of the stringent environmental safeguards that are currently in place,’ Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke told reporters at a White House briefing Thursday evening.
“Zinke said the order, combined with other steps Trump has taken during his first months in office, ‘puts us on track for American energy independence.’
“The executive order will reverse part of a December effort by President Barack Obama to deem the bulk of U.S.-owned waters in the Arctic Ocean and certain areas in the Atlantic as indefinitely off limits to oil and gas leasing.”
With these resources unlocked, our nation can once again begin making strides toward energy independence. While total sovereignty from global energy cabals may never be truly possible, every little bit helps when it comes to bolstering the U.S. economy. By allowing oil and gas to be extracted from these previously off-limits locales, the Trump Effect could be chalking up another tally mark in the win column.
