One of the most highly anticipated diplomatic sit downs in modern history occurred today on the sidelines of the G20 summit, and we are now learning what was discussed within.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met today for the first time in a lengthy encounter sovereign from the much protested G20 summit in Europe. The meeting, which was originally scheduled for 30 minutes went on for over 2 hours, with a number of pressing topics being discussed. According to witnesses inside the meeting, Trump and Putin were not shy about addressing the pink elephant in the room regarding Russia’s alleged interference in the U.S. election.
“Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told reporters that Trump opened the meeting by asking about alleged Russian election interference and that him and Putin had a ‘lengthy and robust’ discussion about it. Tillerson said that Putin ‘denied such involvement,’ and the secretary of state described this as a ‘significant hindrance’ in the relationship between the two nations.
“Tillerson told reporters that the two leaders are focused on looking forward, and that the ‘relationship is too important to not find a way forward.’ He did add that the U.S. will work to get a ‘commitment’ from Russia that they will not interfere in the elections of the U.S. or others.
“TASS, a Russian-owned news agency, quoted Putin as saying, ‘I have had a lengthy conversation with the US president. Loads of questions have accumulated including both Ukraine and Syria along with other issues, some bilateral issues.’ While the meeting was still going on, the Associated Press reported that a cease-fire agreement had been reached between Russia and the U.S. in Syria.”
The meeting had long been anticipated, due to absurd claims from the American political left regarding Trump’s possible, unsavory ties to Russia.
While there has yet to be any evidence brought forward to solidify these flimsy claims, mainstream media outlets have all but refused to cease their coverage of the non-story, lending an extra air of tension to today’s meeting. Upon hearing that President Trump charged into his first ever meeting with Putin, by going straight for the jugular, is a sign that the Commander in Chief is not only unintimidated by the Russian President, but also that Trump’s bullish boardroom tactics have not lost an edge in the West Wing.
From the sound of it, Trump commanded the meeting, putting to rest any doubt about his intentions for America, and finally burying the bogus Russian interference conspiracy theory.
