It seems that the only thing that the democrats have wanted to talk about in recent weeks has been Russia.
First, it was the cockamamy notion that Russia somehow “hacked” the U.S. election so that Hillary Clinton would fail as miserably as she did. Then, once that story was debunked, they began fabricating ties between President Trump, his cabinet, and a bevy of Russian characters who many Americans had never heard of.
Hopefully, now all of that asinine talk can settle down, as we have a new ambassador to Russia.
“‘Former Utah governor and Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman Jr. has accepted President Trump’s offer to be the U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Fox News has confirmed.
“‘Sources told Fox that Trump called Huntsman Monday to offer him the job. If confirmed, Huntsman would head to Moscow at a time when relations between the U.S. and Russia have reached a low point in the post-Cold War era.
“‘Hunstman’s acceptance also ends speculation about a possible primary challenge against Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch, who is up for re-election next year.'”
Huntsman will certainly have quite the task ahead of him, as the democrats and their progressive ilk have spent what feels like a decade pinning all manner of Russian nonsense to Trump and his administration. As the United States continues down its path of diplomacy with our one-time adversary, Huntsman will be playing a critical role not only in the halls of power, but in the halls of public opinion as well. Let’s all hope that the mainstream media gives him a chance.
