President Trump has been trapped in an adversarial relationship with the Washington elite of the entirety of his still-young presidency.
The campaign promises that Trump outlined in his contract with America have largely gone unimplemented thanks to congressional stagnancy and a fervent oppositional “resistance” that has infiltrated the republican party. This unfortunate blockade has taken its toll on Trump’s approval ratings as Americans continue to project their disappointment with Congress on the President himself. Just last week, Trump experienced some of the most damning numbers of his short career; likely a direct result of Congress’ inability to repeal and replace Obamacare after incessant provocation.
Now, with Congress out for their August recess, the President is seeing a bounce back in his approval numbers once again reaching the 45% mark.
Trending: Science is Settled
“A week ago, only 39% approved of the job Trump is doing.
“The latest figures include 29% who Strongly Approve of the way the president is performing and 44% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15. (see trends).”
Further polling also suggests that Americans are turning in favor of using force to bring North Korea to heel.
Rasmussen’s poll regarding the use of force against Kim Jong Un revealed that 45% of U.S. voters are convinced that military might may be the only way to resolve the North Korea issue. Kim Jong Un’s tough talk has prompted Trump to respond in kind, ramping up the rhetoric he uses to keep Kim in check.
This hard stance again may have impacted Trump’s approval rating, as Americans often respond to tough military talk with a vote of confidence.
