Trending: Fuel for Thought

That’s right, Mr. Cheesy Poof himself said that Hillary Clinton has been “involved in corruption” for most of her career. This is true. Donald Trump is absolutely correct on this one. I know it may be shocking to see those words in ink–from me of all people.

But here’s the best part. [score]Ted Cruz[/score], Trump’s chief rival, tweeted back, and it was brilliant:

Ooh. Trump’s gonna need a ton of salve for that burn.

More to the point, what Cruz said is also true. Throughout his life, Donald Trump has contributed thousands to Hillary Clinton, and her affiliated organizations.

Politico reports that Trump and his son contributed to Hillary not once, not twice, but four times. Contributions made in 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2007 totaled more than $10,000 according to U.S. News.

Trump’s donations to Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign totaled $2,300. This is all in addition to giving between $100,000 to $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation as well.

The Washington Examiner adds to the pile:

“Trump also gave to Clinton’s Senate campaign indirectly, due to a $125,000 donation from Trump to the Democratic Campaign Committee of New York [DCCNY].”

Given Trump’s apparent disdain for Clinton, one wonders why he would have donated so much money to her directly, and via the DCCNY.

The Orange Crush has also heaped praise on Hillary Clinton as recently as 2012, telling Greta Van Susteren:

“Hillary Clinton I think is a terrific woman. I am biased because I have known her for years. I live in New York. She lives in New York. I really like her and her husband both a lot. I think she really works hard…and I think she does a good job. I like her…She’s a really good person and woman.”

This all makes me wonder, why the sudden turn-around? It’s as if for the decades Trump was cozy with Clinton, he had no clue she was “involved in corruption,” then suddenly, when it became expedient for him to acknowledge it, he let loose.

That’s an option. Political expedience. Another option is that as a businessman, perhaps Trump needed favors in New York that only a senator “involved in corruption” could deliver. Of course, that’s only speculation–although it wouldn’t shock me as Trump has well-documented ties to organized crime.

There is a third option. Trump simply has no character. We’ve seen the man lie time and time again, so what’s one more set of lies? One of his more recent and amusing lies came when he told one morning show that he’d seen a particular anti-Trump TV commercial, then minutes later, told another morning show that he hadn’t seen it.

Donald Trump is bereft of character. He donated to Hillary Clinton for unknown reasons; now, when it suits him, he shouts that’s she’s been “involved in corruption” for most of her career.

Perhaps Trump was part of the corruption in which Hillary was involved? Just a thought.
