Today, May 21, 1940: Nazis Murdered 1,500 ‘Unfit’ Hospital Patients

Many people fail to realize that millions of people have been sterilized and euthanized in the name of Darwinian evolution’s survival of the fittest. Many people also fail to realize that prior to Adolf Hitler’s campaign of sterilization and euthanasia, the United States was the leading guilty nation.

From 1907 to 1939, somewhere between 30,000 to possibly more than 50,000 Americans were sterilized either forcibly or without their knowledge. Most of them resided in mental hospitals with others being in prison. The idea was to breed out insanity and criminal tendencies.

As early as 1934, Hitler began to take the idea of sterilization and eugenics in order to weed out imperfect and undesirable traits in order to create his master race. Starting in January 1934, Hitler’s Germany began forced sterilization of around 400,000 people including unfit Aryans, Jews and Gypsies.

In 1935, Hitler took the idea of eugenics a step further with the euthanasia of defective, incurably ill and other unfit individuals. Some claim the order to start euthanizing people was originated in 1935 but was dated 1939 for political and social reasons.

The eugenic program was known as the Reich Work Group of Sanatoriums and Nursing Homes. The base of operations was at the Berlin Chancellery at Teirgarten 4, giving rise to the program being known as T4.

By 1939, T4 was ramping up to include more and more people that did not fit Hitler’s agenda. People targeted included the elderly, sick, deformed, injured, as well as religious and social groups including Jews and Gypsies.

On this day, May 21, 1940, members of the T4 special squad rounded up over 1,500 people deemed ‘unfit’ from hospitals in East Prussia and moved them to the Soldau district of East Prussia. There, the T4 squad began executing the unfit patients. It took 18 days for them to finally murder all of the mentally ill patients. When they were done, they reported back to Berlin that all of the patients had been successfully evacuated.

By the end of World War II, Nazi Germany had murdered over 10 million people, of which over 6 million were Jews. The Holocaust and other German atrocities shocked and repulsed much of the world and still does today.

However, the principles behind much of Hitler’s atrocities is no different than the philosophies driving many of today’s mass shootings in America and abroad. When Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire on fellow classmates at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, they killed 12 students, 1 teacher and wounded 23 others before taking their own lives.

How does this compare to what Hitler did? Hitler used Darwinian evolution as a basis to force the evolution of a master race or humans. Klebold and Harris also used Darwinian evolution to justify their shooting. They wrote and were fixated on Hitler and his eugenics philosophies. They also wore t-shirts with the term ‘survival of the fittest’ when the opened fire that fateful day.

What about high school student Pekka-Eric Auvinen of Finland? Before he went on a shooting spree in his school, he posted the following online:

“I am prepared to fight and die for my cause. … I, as a natural selector, will eliminate all who I see unfit, disgraces of human race and failures of natural selection. No, the truth is that I am just an animal, a human, an individual, a dissident . … It’s time to put NATURAL SELECTION & SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST back on tracks!”

I know this wasn’t Hitler’s only reason for murdering millions but it did play a large part in it. It was the main concept that drove him to murder the weak, diseased, defective and mentally ill on this day in 1940 in East Prussia. In Hitler’s mind, they were evolutionary ‘unfits’ that had no right or purpose to live or reproduce and needed to be eliminated because they were not the fittest.
