Vocal Point

This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (June 25 – July 1)

Listen to VOCAL POINT Daily at MIDNIGHT, 6AM, NOON, 6PM, (Eastern Time) on GraceNetRadio.com.

❖ Barely a day goes by without some news about “the deep state.” Steve Cortes, a contributor to RealClearPolitics and a CNN political commentator, wrote a piece saying: “Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein must be feeling the heat. On Sunday he responded with uncharacteristic promptness to President Trump’s demand for an investigation into possible Department of Justice spying on his campaign.” Cortes added that he thinks Resenstein has done too little too late: “He should lose his job.” Steve Cortes joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to talk about this. His Twitter handle is @CortesSteve

❖ Without violating border security, what can the church and individual Christians do to help refugees seeking a new life in America? World Relief works with churches, including evangelical ones, to help meet a variety of humanitarian needs in the Name of Christ. Over the last three years, they have worked together with more than 1800 congregations to help resettle new refugees. They are helping to provide the refugees to set up home here, to learn English as a second language, to receive job training and counseling. Matthew Soerens, the US Director of Church Mobilization for World Relief, joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this humanitarian outreach. www.worldrelief.org

❖ Jarrett Stepman is a writer and commentator for the Heritage Foundation, and he posts many articles on dailsignal.com. Recently, he wrote  “The Left’s War Against Prosperity in Seattle.” He notes that the west coast city has achieved many remarkable things: “A few big tech companies, including Amazon and Microsoft, plus other large, successful businesses such as Boeing and Starbucks, have fueled this explosive rise.” But then, he argues, they are undermining these achievement through bad city policies: “The left is sleepless in Seattle, working overtime to squander years of economic success.” Jarrett Stepman joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss all this. www.dailysignal.org

❖ Well, they finally did it. The left has managed to take down the Boy Scouts of America. What is not well known is that this apparently has been a long term goal—to take down the Boy Scouts. Dr. Paul Kengor, a bestselling author and history/politics professor at Grove City College and a columnist, recently wrote an article called “The Marxist-Progressive War on the Boy Scouts. He notes, “Today’s progressives have completed the takeover and destruction communists first started calling for more than a century ago. The title of this article will raise eyebrows even among conservatives, but read on. The title is accurate and undeniable.” Dr. Paul Kengor joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the left’s long and now successful war against one of our formerly-great institutions, the Boy Scouts. www.visionandvalues.org
