Trending: President Trump Makes Emotional Statement on Passing of Aretha Franklin

❖ “Do Christians have a future in LGBTQ America?” is an intriguing article  written recently by Star Parker for her syndicated column. She observes, “Free speech is not about equality. Free speech is about the pursuit of truth. The equality necessary for free speech is equality under the law, where everyone receives equal protection. But when politics is the aim rather than truth, objective law protecting free expression gets flushed, and political operatives…determine who lives and who dies.” And she adds, “This slippery slope leads in one direction. Less freedom and more oppression. Exactly what our nation is not supposed to be about.” Star Parker, the founder and director of Urban Cure, joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this issue.

❖ For years, many in our society have taken the word of the Southern Poverty Law Center (the SPLC) as gospel. If they said so-and-so was an extremist of hate or that a certain organization was a supposed “hate group,” then so be it. The problem is that the SPLC has labeled many legitimate Christian ministries and jihad-watchdog groups as supposed “haters.” One of the latter groups is founded by Frank Gaffney, who served in the Reagan Administration. He founded the Center for Security Policy. Recently, the SPLC was sued by another group they called a hate group—a group founded by an ex-radical Muslim. The SPLC settled with him and publically apologized to him and paid him more than $3 million. Frank Gaffney joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss this recent development.

❖ Eric Scheidler is the director of the Pro-Life Action League. Recently they had a banner day with a banner campaign to unfurl a pro-life message to be seen by 100s of 1000s of commuters in various cities across the country. Scheidler writes: “With reports coming in from teams in more than 50 cities across the United States, we estimate that well over 1,000,000 highway commuters saw our banners reading, ‘Abortion takes a human life.’…Pro-life banners were displayed in all weathers, including heavy rain in several Midwestern cities and extreme heat in the South, with temperatures topping out at 103 degrees in Waco, Texas. Response from the public was quite positive; as the leader in Akron, Ohio, reported: ‘In all my years of doing witnessing, I’ve never heard as many car horns and seen as many thumbs up or waving to us as we did today!’” Eric Scheidler joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss this campaign and other current pro-life concerns.

❖ Evangelical pollster and best-selling author George Barna just wrote a new book called, “The Days Christians Changed America: How Christian Voters Put Trump in the White House and Redirected America’s Future.” Barna talks about how significant was a meeting in NYC of about 1000 evangelical leaders with Donald Trump in June 2016. George Barna joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the role of Christians in the 2016 election results. [This is a repeat.]
