Here’s a controversial truth – President Trump is far more popular than the media gives him credit for.
The average of the polling data shows that some 43% of the population fully supports President Trump and approves of the job he’s done thus far. Which makes him AS popular as Bill Clinton at the same time in his presidency, and more popular than either Carter or Reagan at the same time in their presidencies! Gallup’s rolling poll puts GOP support of the President at 90%, which is an overwhelming number… particularly if you consider how negative the media’s coverage of his presidency has been.
In fact, that really should be the big story here. Trump is facing a media that has been historically critical of his almost every word and action, and yet… the American people are as supportive of him as they’ve been of every other President in recent history.
Conservative pundit Mollie Hemingway was recently on Fox News’ MeidaBuzz with host Howie Kurtz where she explained that the anti-Trump, #NeverTrump position is “over represented” in the national media.
I’m interested in this from a media angle. It’s the predominance of never-Trumpets we see in newspapers and in the media outlets. In the real world, they represent an incredibly small fraction of the people. In the media world, they dominate everything. You look at papers that won’t have a single columnist who represents the average Republican voter, even though the average Republican voter elected the president, who decides a lot of stuff.
These people get a lot of prominence for a pretty minority opinion and they seem to be praised by people in the media.
Professor Alan Dershowitz recently hammered on one of the attacks coming from the left. Specifically, that President Trump is… Hitler. Here’s the truth – NO. Trump is NOT Hitler. Dershowitz explains why this comparison is so disgusting.
