Thank God for our 2nd Amendment: Canadian MP scoffs at thought of women concealing pepper spray.

After eight years of Barack Obama tearing down our Constitution and undermining our liberties, it’s easy to feel discouraged from time to time. I get it. So consider this an opportunity to step back, take a deep breath, and say “Thank the Good Lord we’re not Canada”.

Apparently, our neighbors to the north have been having a hot debate this week over how best to protect women from violence. One member of their Conservative Party actually dared to suggest that women be permitted to protect themselves with automatic machine guns pepper spray:

Trending: Liberal Students Throw Tantrum when Biologist says Men and Women are Different

Turns out this sort of common sense is actually not so common outside of the United States, and if Kellie Leitch didn’t know that before, she does now. Only in America do we have a government that declares your right to self protection an unalienable right worthy of protection by government. This right, and all the others, does not come from government, so it cannot be taken away. I know this may sound redundant to many of you who already know and appreciate this, but given the rising popularity of Marxist tyranny, maybe it’s time we said so a little more often.

After all, the last thing we need is more politicians like Canada’s Liberal MP Patty Hajdu who had this to say in response to Kellie Leitch:

Ms. Leitch’s proposal is unrealistic and offensive to women across this country. Her misguided approach places the onus on women to defend themselves rather than focusing on addressing and preventing gender-based violence. It is not surprising, given that ‎Ms. Leitch and the former Conservative government had 10 years to address violence against women and failed to do so. That’s why, after 10 years of inaction, we are developing a federal gender-based violence strategy in consultation with provinces, territories and grassroots organizations to ensure that women in Canada can live free from violence.

Unfortunately she is dead serious. But what could possibly be more offensive to women than the idea that they’re too stupid and incapable of carrying pepper spray to defend themselves from violence? What could possibly be more offensive to women than the idea that they should be left unarmed like helpless sheep until the government masterminds figure out a way to legislate peace throughout the land? If such a thing were possible it would’ve been done by now. But it’s not possible. There will always be at least some violence among us and the only sensible thing to do is to be prepared to defend yourself if necessary.

In America, we prefer armed women.

That’s right, Canada. Not only is it extremely attractive, it’s safe and sensible. It’s empowering. It means that my wife can protect herself and our kids when i’m not around. Whether Patty Hajdu and the rest of the liberal nutcases like it or not, women are not always equal to men. When a 250 pound man approaches a 100 pound woman and intends do her harm, they’re anything but equal. To say otherwise would make you, dare I say, a science denier. Put a concealed weapon in that same woman’s pocket, be it pepper spray or a firearm, all of a sudden the situation is much more equal.

Oh, and please spare us the nonsense that allowing people to arm themselves only encourages more violence. There are literally endless examples of people successfully defending themselves from potentially life threatening violence all the time and it takes 5 seconds of google searching to prove it. Here is a video of one woman defending her home in Georgia with a gun. Here is another similar situation where a mother defends herself and her children with a gun. Here is another. And another. I could do this all day.

Now here is an example of what can happen when government denies a woman’s right to defend herself. This New Jersey woman was murdered by her ex-boyfriend while waiting to be approved for a concealed weapons permit. She could have easily been included in the success story links above had she been armed, but instead she is dead and who knows how many other lives were ruined as a result. It’s disgraceful, cruel, and unjust that she is dead. Not just by the hand of a murderous lunatic, but by those in power who are sworn to serve and protect her.

It is a human being’s right to protect themselves. The idea that a select few in government can take that way is not only offensive nonsense, it’s tyrannical.
