The Terror Attacks That Apparently Aren’t Terrorism

Over the weekend a series of terror attacks hit the country that were singular for the fact that Democrats and their the media lapdogs spent the ensuing days refusing to call them terrorism.

The separate incidents occurred on Saturday, two likely connected and a third many miles distant.

The onslaught began on Saturday morning, September 17th, with an explosion that destroyed a garbage can which happened to be situated along the route of a Marine Corps charity 5K run in Seaside, New Jersey.

The explosion went off about 9:30 AM before the charity race had kicked off. The race was canceled after police bomb unit officers discovered what they called a “pipe bomb” device and said there were more explosives that had not gone off when the first one did.

Later that night and not far away another explosion went off rocking New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. Some sort of bomb was placed in a dumpster in the area and it injured nearly 30 people when it went off.

The blast blew out scores of windows in buildings around the scene and shrapnel and debris struck scores of people walking the busy streets. At least 29 were injured, though fortunately no one was killed.

Also on Saturday evening, a man dressed as a security guard went on a stabbing rampage inside a Minnesota shopping mall injuring eight people.

The attacks occurred at about 8:30 PM at the Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Witness say the attacker invoked the name of “Allah” as he accosted people. Some also said he asked would-be victims if they were Muslim before striking at them.

The man was shot and killed by off-duty Avon police officer Jason Falconer who happened to be armed with his service firearm and was shopping in the mall at the time.

Almost immediately a group representing the terror army ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack saying the attacker was operating under their orders.

By Sunday afternoon, it was reported that the wannabe terrorist was identified publicly by his father as 22-year-old Somali immigrant Dahir Adan, according to the Daily Mail.

So, what to make of all this? Well, Democrats and the media had their scripts written likely before any of the incidents took place. As far as they are concerned it ain’t terrorism and if you say it is you belong in a basket of deplorables.

The politicians were first out of the gate racing to say it isn’t terror. After the Chelsea explosion, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio was quick to come out with his idea about the bombing saying on one hand it was an “intentional act” and yet on the other, without even the first minute’s investigation into the incident, he summarily decided it couldn’t possibly be terrorism.

Of course it couldn’t.

bill-de-blasioOf course, not long after de Blasio’s self-assured snap no-terror assessment, investigators into the “not terrorism” incident found at least one other bomb built out of a pressure cooker that had not exploded. You may recall that a pressure cooker was used to murder and maim dozens during the 2013 Boston marathon bombing–which was itself an act of Muslim terrorism.

Yet, even with that connection, Mayor de Blasio couldn’t get to a TV camera fast enough to proclaim the explosion entirely unconnected to any act of terror. Despite de Blasio’s delicate sensibilities, though, at least one F.B.I. agent noted the similarities to the Boston bombing and said the Chelsea dumpster bombs could very well be a Muslim terror attack. I hope this agent wasn’t fired.

Not to be outdone with his head-in-the-sand routine, New York Governor Cuomo the lesser also insisted that the bombings couldn’t possibly be linked to “international terrorism”… as if “international,” not Islam, is the operative word for terrorism.

Only hours had passed before Hillary Clinton tried to use the attacks as a stick to beat up Donald Trump and the media did its level best to aide her in her task.

On Sunday morning aboard her campaign plane, Hillary made a statement saying (my bold), “I’ve been briefed about the bombings in New York and New Jersey…” Only seconds later she scolded GOP nominee Donald Trump for calling the explosions bombs, saying, “it’s always wiser to wait until you have information before making conclusions because we are just in the beginning stages of trying to determine what happened.”

You read that right. Hillary called them bombs then scolded Trump for calling them bombs.

For its part, the media understood that it had to rescue Hillary from her logic disconnect. So, without missing a beat, many news services clipped out the first few words of her statement and played only the parts that came after she called the incident a bombing.

CNN’s Jake Tapper as only one of the many denizens of the Old Media who gave Hillary that much needed helping hand. Tapper wasn’t alone. The covering for Hillary’s error occurred elsewhere on CNN, as well.

CNN wasn’t alone in pushing Hillary’s attack on Trump. Witness the effort of Washington Post “reporter” Sean Sullivan who posted a short piece he gracious entitled, “Trump says ‘bomb’ went off in New York before details of explosion confirmed.”

Other “news outlets” were also busy spinning the day’s events to make sure consumers of news were gently steered away from the idea that these terror attacks could be, you know, terrorism.

Blake Hounshell of Politico, for one, jumped to his Twitter account to aide in pushing Hillary’s agenda by slamming Trump over the “bomb” comment.

Not long after this “reporter” Tweeted his slam on Trump, even the left-wing Nw York Times had to report that the Chelsea bombs had shrapnel in them “designed to inflict maximum damage.”

Not terrorism, eh? I guess filling a pressure cooker with shrapnel meant to “inflict maximum damage” is just a strong statement in this nation’s media.

Authorities in Minnesota were also indulging their inner ostriches by refusing to say it was terror despite their suspect screaming about “Allah” and stabbing people after asking them if they were Muslim.

To top off all this poo-pooing of Muslim terror, a jaunty Barack Obama jumped out of his hidey-hole to laugh off ISIS terror with a tiny little joke delivered to the Black Caucus Foundation in Washington where he said: “I don’t know about you guys, but I am so relieved that the whole birther thing is over. I mean, ISIL, North Korea, poverty, climate change, none of those things weighed on my mind like the validity of my birth certificate.”

Ahh, good times.
