Of all the Presidential candidates, [score]Ted Cruz[/score] alone has called forcing women into combat the insane abuse that it is.
Here’s the footage of the shameless cowards and kidnapping sociopaths that run our military.
Regular readers might have noticed that I have not always been a fan of Ted Cruz, though I’ve also tried to acknowledge his accomplishments.
But Ted Cruz stands out as the only outspoken Conservative on an issue of basic importance. He does not want our daughters forced into military combat or else facing prison time. According to CNN,
Two days before the New Hampshire primary Cruz veered off his stump speech to blast his GOP competitors on the issue, which came up at the ABC debate Saturday. [score]Marco Rubio[/score], Jeb Bush and Chris Christie all said or suggested they’d support women being required to enroll in Selective Service and be eligible for the draft, since female service members can now serve in combat roles. Cruz was not asked.
“It was striking that three different people on that stage came out in support of drafting women into combat in the military,” Cruz said. “I have to admit, as I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was: Are you guys nuts?”
He also attacked “political correctness” setting our policy in the Armed Forces.
Maybe there is another Presidential candidate who agrees with him, but so far Ted Cruz alone has taken a public stand.
Personally, I wish Cruz would object to the draft for both men and women. I can see good coming from the draft. Our warfare in Viet Nam didn’t last nearly as long as our operations in Afghanistan (still ongoing) because not every family in America has someone forced to serve. But I can’t get beyond the principle that slavery is wrong.
The bottom line is that, if our nation was genuinely threatened, the military would have more volunteers than it could handle. The draft is only contemplated because our government wants the freedom to send soldiers in large numbers overseas to pursue its own interests, not the true defense of the nation.
Yes, I’m proud of soldiers who fight to defend our freedoms. But those freedoms, as listed in the Declaration of Independence, include the right to decide not to be a soldier or risk one’s life (and kill) for a cause he does not believe is worth the price.
But advocating for drafting women, beside kidnapping and enslaving them, doesn’t make the nation any safer. Furthermore, it denies that men are supposed to protect women rather than hide behind them. On both counts, Ted Cruz is the only one who is not nuts. He stands out.
