Teachers in Ohio Pack Concealed Carry Class Offered By Sheriff’s Office

The horrendous mental health attack of Parkland, Florida last week has been a wake up call for many of the nation’s educators and students.

During the incident, 19 year old Nikolas Cruz entered his former high school intent on creating carnage.  Unfortunately, the severely mentally ill young man had evaded detection by authorities, simply due to the FBI’s complete and utter incompetence.  This allowed Cruz to plot and plan his attack unmolested by authorities, and procure a firearm that he should never have been able to purchase.

Simply put, the entire mental episode could have been prevented had the FBI done something even resembling their due diligence.  They didn’t, and now 17 young Americans are dead.

Of course, compounding the issue of Cruz’s complete and utter freedom to kill, was the fact that the high school of his choosing is one of the nation’s inexplicable “gun free zones”, were otherwise law abiding citizens could have, and should have, been able to defend themselves by means of force.

The tragedy has once again invigorated the debate over the arming of teachers in our public school system; a delicate subject no matter how gingerly it is approached.

In Ohio, however, the educators of The Buckeye State have made their decision.

“Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff Richard K. Jones offered free concealed carry training for 50 teachers and 250 teachers responded within 24 hours.

“On February 20 Fox 91 reported the response had jumped to 250 teachers who wanted training. Jones reveled in the opportunity to instruct them, saying, ‘We have 250 and growing fast. We will start training fast, next week.’

“He stressed that he wants teachers to understand what they can do with a gun if an armed attacker enters the classroom. And while he cannot delegate the authority for teachers to carry on a given campus–that is a school board decision–Jones said he wants the teachers to be ready if their school board so chooses.”

Given that the Second Amendment is here to stay, (“shall not be infringed”, y’all), the only way to prevent armed attackers from targeting the “fish in a barrel” represented by “gun free” areas is to deter them with force.

There is nothing that will stop a crazed and likely suicidal shooter other than another, equally or more effectively armed “good guy”.  This isn’t rocket science, and there’s no algorithm that can make any other solution possible.  It’s either guns or no guns, in total, or else this disparity will always exist.

Even if the nation were suddenly to go blue and ban guns, there isn’t a possibility that the total removal of firearms could even happen.  No matter the measures taken by any tyrannical government in the name of disarmament, there is a zero percent probability that every firearm could be confiscated, leading to a hellish land of outlaws similar to modern day Chicago.

Guns aren’t going anywhere in America.  There is no argument that can alter that inalienable fact.  It’s time for the left to grow up and recognize this.
