W/hen I was growing up, most adults respected the laws, other people and other people’s properties and rights. However, that is not the case in today’s America. We were taught to be law abiding citizens and to respect others, but over the past 40—50 years, that has been steadily changing. There is a generation of adults that have lost their respect for the law, other people and other people’s rights and property.
The problem has exponentially increased over the past 7 years of Barack Obama’s lawless reign of our nation. He has openly and defiantly broken many laws and has chosen not to enforce any that he disagrees with. Then add former US Attorney General Eric Holder who served under Obama and did the same thing. He openly violated laws, let friends get away with committing felonies and chose what he laws he didn’t want the Justice department to enforce- namely the Defense of Marriage Act before it was repealed and then immigration laws.
When the leadership of your nation acts in a lawless manner, they set the example for the people, so it’s only natural for many Americans to do the same.

Then you have nearly two generations of Americans that were educated in the public school system where God, Jesus and the Bible were not allowed. They were taught that they are a product of godless evolution and the only thing that matters is taking care of themselves first and foremost with no regard for others – survival of the fittest.
I have noticed a difference in the attitudes of many Americans, including many who consider themselves to be conservatives. The difference can be seen in their driving habits. In my younger days, it was mostly teenagers and early twenty somethings that did most of the speeding in residential neighborhoods. Today, it’s the majority of Americans.
I’ve spoken with our local police about speeding and blowing through stop signs in my neighborhood and they tell me that they get 30-40 calls about this every day. They can send officers to the area and people only slow down as long as the officers are visible, but the second the officers are gone, the speeding resumes. I was told that one man kept calling in to complain about people running stop signs in a wealthy neighborhood so when they sent an officer out to monitor, guess who they stopped for running a stop sign? Yep! The man who kept calling.
I’ve been walking for my health and this past week, I saw a lady in a black SUV speeding down our street and not paying attention. Two boys were riding their bikes and when they had to go around a parked car, the lady in the SUV nearly hit them and had to suddenly swerve to avoid them. She was not only speeding but she was doing something with her phone. When I shared this with my law enforcement friend and told him I thought I was about to witness a vehicular homicide, he told me that sadly that is what it takes sometimes to force officials to take action to slow down the traffic. The very next day when walking, I saw the same lady in the black SUV and again she was speeding and looking at her phone. I tried to wave to her to slow down but she blew right past me, missing me by about only 3 feet.
Speeding has always been around, but not nearly as rampantly as it is today. Just watch and you may see many of your neighbors who you respect, speeding, blowing through stop signs and endangering lives. I honestly believe that the rampancy of speeding and reckless driving is just one of many symptoms of our godless and decaying America that is or has lost respect for the law and others just as our leaders have.
