Spacey Allegations Put an End To Netflix’s Cash Cow ‘Cards’

Hollywood is currently undergoing a transformation unlike anything that we’ve witnessed in the history of the film industry.

For decades upon decades, a small group of powerful and wealthy male movie moguls ruled Tinseltown, claiming a sexist and repugnant dominion over the flock of young and impressionable starlets gleaning for their chance in the limelight.  This relationship created ample opportunities for Hollywood’s most powerful men and women to exploit their less-ingrained counterparts’ dreams and aspirations for their own sexual gratification – a practice epitomized by the monstrous Harvey Weinstein who has just recently been accused by over 60 women of sexually inappropriate behavior.

This cavalcade of accusations has seemingly opened the floodgates for the victims of this horrid Hollywood whore-mongering, who have now taken to social and traditional media to finally expose these abhorrent actions by a litany of A-listers.

Most recently, longstanding staple of the thespian community Keven Spacey has found himself in the hot seat after allegations surfaced that painted Spacey as a homosexual pedophile during an incident 3 decades ago.  Given the recent explosion of accusations and the strong willed nature of the nation’s response, Netflix will be ending their relationship with the award-winning actor and terminating the critically acclaimed drama series House of Cards.

“In the wake of the sexual harassment allegation against actor Kevin Spacey, Netflix has announced ‘House of Cards’ will be ending after the show’s sixth season, according to multiple media reports.

“The news comes after many fans called on Netflix to pull the plug on its original series following a report from Buzzfeed News in which actor Anthony Rapp alleged Spacey, then 26, made a sexual advance on him when he was 14 years old.

“According to Entertainment Weekly, “House of Cards” recently began filming its sixth season. Several reports said the show was already considering making this season its last.

“Rapp said that in 1986, Spacey, a fellow Broadway actor at the time, invited Rapp to his apartment for a party. Later in the evening, Spacey, then 26, allegedly picked Rapp up, placed him on his bed, and climbed on top of him, making a sexual advance, according to the Buzzfeed News report.”

Netflix’s stern and appropriate response to the scandal has fallen within the normal range of possible reactions to these unnerving allegations, and follows suit with many other Hollywood organizations’ own work to distance themselves from the accused.

Similar concerns could face megastar Ben Affleck, who himself was accused of sexually inappropriate behavior recently.  His portrayal of Batman, while critically panned, was set to return for another blockbuster DC Films installment of the Justice League franchise.
