Senate Bill 149 sponsored by Senator Alan Solano and Representative Steven Haugaard has been scheduled for a hearing. In the bill it is made clear that a “child placement agency” is an organization that receives and places children in foster homes or for adoption. The bill would, in essence, protect the faith based agencies if it refuses to put a child into a home not in keeping with the religious views of the organization.
When you get to the bottom line, it definitely means that Christian adoption agencies could deny gay couples seeking to foster or adopt. It is the very essence of Religious Liberty. It even goes a step further and guarantees that the government can not punish them for doing so.
I am fairly certain that whichever way the bill goes there will be controversy. There always is where children (or sex) are concerned.
Take for example the graph below from the National Institutes of Health.
The statistics are sobering. They are also, of course, disputed by the LGBT(PXYZ or whatever they have added this week) community.
What is not disputable is that there is supposed to be a separation of church and state. What people fail to realize is that it is meant to protect the church from the state and to ensure freedom of religion.
Folks, this is way more important than whether or not you get a cake baked for you by a Christian.
Any Christian will tell you that Jesus said in Matthew to let the children alone and not deter them from coming to him for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them. He also made it pretty clear that if anybody causes a child to stumble that it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Those are pretty strong instructions. It’s probably not a good idea to ignore them, especially if you’re only concern is possibly losing money.
