SHOCK Study Reveals 40% of Americans Can’t Name One Right Guaranteed By the First Amendment

It certainly wouldn’t surprise most sensible conservatives to learn that the majority of Americans are Constitutionally illiterate.

After all, how else could the progressive establishment have convinced their constituents to be on board with their plan scaleback our Constitutional rights to such an extreme degree?

If you ask most leftists, they’re totally fine with plans to ban “hate speech”, compel Christian business owners to participate in same-sex weddings, and restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.

Many would be fine with repealing the Second Amendment altogether, come to think of it.

Still, if there is one Constitutional Amendment you think every American would understand, it would be the First. And yet, a recent study revealed that a stunning 40% of adults surveyed couldn’t name one single right guaranteed by the First Amendment, while one lone respondent was able to name all five.

The survey of 1,009 adults, according to The Daily Wire, was conducted between May and June of 2018 by the Fors Marsh Group in partnership with Lata Nott and Gene Policinski of FFI. The survey had a margin of error of 3.7%.

“When asked to name the freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment, only one person was able to name all five,” The Daily Wire reports. “2% of respondents were able to name the right to petition the government for redress of grievances; 12% were able to name the right of peaceful assembly; 13% were able to name freedom of the press; 15% were able to name freedom of religion; and 56% were able to name freedom of speech.”

“A whopping 40% of respondents couldn’t name a single freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment.”

A few respondents also confused rights guaranteed by the First with other rights, such as the right to bear arms (8%) or the right to vote (2%).

Whatever happened to the days of Schoolhouse Rock?

The mainstream narrative has become so consumed with civil rights and extra-Constitutional intersectionality, that it appears the day may soon come when children don’t even understand the basic concept of natural rights at all, let alone the rights guaranteed them in our founding documents.

In fact, in a culture that has become increasingly hostile to the God who endowed us with our unalienable natural rights, who’s to say most adults these days don’t even understand the concept?

It is not hyperbolic to say the very values on which our nation was founded are under attack. They’ve become a partisan issue rather than the philosophical tenets of liberty we can all agree on.

While Trump tries to make America great again, maybe it’s time to make Americas founding documents well-known again.
