Russia Pushes Envelope on Jet Encounters, This Time Over Black Sea

There is no doubt that the Russians are not thoroughly enthused about American democrats’ insistence that the Kremlin was interfering in the 2016 U.S. election, and a new Cold War could come barreling into existence because of it.

During that fateful election, Hillary Clinton made an absurd claim:  Her opponent, and eventual President, Donald Trump was working hand in hand with the Russian government in order to be elected.  At first, the claims revolved around potential hacking of the DNC or the election itself, and then turned to the dissemination of “fake news”, and eventually evolved into a bizarre scheme regarding prostitutes from Moscow blackmailing Trump with allegedly foul behavior that the businessman engaged in while traveling abroad.

While it’s obvious now that this was almost entirely nonsense, (as evidenced by Robert Mueller’s water-treading investigation into the subject), the claims prompted U.S. President Barack Obama to insult the Russians by dismissing several dignitaries from the U.S.

In retaliation, the U.S. relationship with the Russian has gone from chilly to arctic, with incidents occurring around the globe in which the Ruskies harass and endanger the lives of American military personnel.  Just last week, NATO was forced to intercept a radar-evading Russian fighter jet over Europe, and, today, an American Navy plane was buzzed within 5 feet by a yet another Kremlin-backed fighter.

“A Russian Su-27 jet performed an unsafe intercept of a US Navy surveillance plane while it was flying in international airspace over the Black Sea Monday, three defense officials told CNN.

“The American pilots reported that the Russian jet came within 5 feet of the US plane, according to two of the officials.

“The Russian jet’s action forced the US Navy aircraft to end its mission prematurely, one of the officials said.
“US Naval Forces Europe, which oversees US operations in the region, later confirmed the incident in a statement.

“‘This interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the SU-27 closing to within five feet and crossing directly through the EP-3’s flight path, causing the EP-3 to fly through the SU-27’s jet wash,’ Capt. Pamela Kunze, a spokesperson for US Naval Forces Europe told CNN.”

These repeated and dangerous events could only have one true purpose; annoying and provoking the United States to action.

Furthermore, the Russians have been working in less direct avenues to deter the United States from exerting its power as well.  Russian military leaders have repeatedly warned the United States about interfering in either Syria or North Korea, threatening to react to any such maneuver with military action.

All the while, Robert Mueller and his democrat-induced investigation continues to spin their wheels in Washington, with absolutely no evidence of collusion to show for it.  This is likely the source of Russia’s latest bout of infuriation, and is yet another example of the left inadvertently putting our service men and women in harm’s way to score political points with their millennial voters.
