Ready, Fire, Aim: How the Left Jumped the Gun!

“You never let a serious crisis go to waste!” This is a leftist mantra as articulated by current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

“And what I mean by that,” he continued, “it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

But as is common for leftist and liberals, they often “pull the trigger” to quickly before all the facts come to light and end up with egg on their face.

Trending: Art of the Meal

And guess what? Anti-gun liberal activist did just that this past Monday!

As reports of an active shooter on the campus of Ohio State University spread, Moms Demand Action, a left-wing anti-gun organization who supports ending gun violence by penalizing law-abiding citizens, jumped on the breaking story shouting, “See, I told you so.”

Shannon Watts, the Founder of the organization, seized the opportunity using the attack to denounce our nation’s “lax gun laws.” She further demanded new laws to control gun access.

But alas, the radicalized Muslim immigrant who orchestrated the carnage didn’t use a gun!  His weapon of choice was a car and a machete.

One has to wonder if Ms. Watts will call for tougher laws regulating Muslim immigrants from driving cars and purchasing knives?

Watts touts their organization comparing it to MADD —Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

On their web page, under “Who We Are,” we read, “Moms Demand Action was founded by stay-at-home mom Shannon Watts on December 15, 2012, in response to the devastating shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The organization quickly flourished into a leading force for gun violence prevention, with chapters in all 50 states and a powerful grassroots network of moms that has successfully effected change at the local, state and national level.”

I’m not sure if the self-aggrandizing statement above is as true as they believe, but the impulsive immaturity of the organization surely showed itself during the tragic events of Monday.

I have a question. As soon as you heard the assailant’s name, you knew what this was about — Islamic terrorism.  Right?

Surely, the outgoing President, Barack Hussein Obama, will assume his normal posture urging all American’s to be cautious by not jumping to any conclusions calling this an act of terrorism.  And he will be right.  Unlike the left, we should wait for all the facts to come out.

But then again, why does the President, and Ms. Watts, founder of “Mothers Demand Actions,” not give the same consideration for the millions of law-abiding, responsible gun owners in this country?  Why do they paint us with the same broad brush the use to condemn those who break the law?

When alcohol is being abused, Mothers Against Drunk Driving didn’t call for a new prohibition.  Instead, they demanded tougher penalties for those who drink and drive and then made sure those penalties were enforced.

Imagine, if you will, that instead of calling for tougher penalties for drunk drivers, MADD advocated taking cars away from sober people as a way of reducing drunk driving.

And this is the way the left reasons.  Call it leftist logic.  Truly a contradiction in terms.
