More Protests Planned In Charlotte After Shooting

It seems that this country is getting worse and worse. Once a month now it appears that a cop is shooting someone. And then there is violence against the officers as well. Just last week a cop in Shelby NC was gunned down while serving a warrant. And yesterday, an officer shot and killed a man in Charlotte NC.

The issue with both of these incidents is that there were black people involved. Now, in the first case, a black suspect killed a white officer. In the second, a black officer shot a black suspect.
Last night, violent protests broke out in Charlotte, and they may not be coming to an end.

After a night of angry protests, smashed windows and trucks set ablaze, more protests as well as special church services were planned Wednesday evening in a community shaken by the police-involved shooting that left an African-American man dead.

The violence — in which 16 police officers were wounded and stores were looted — erupted Tuesday night, hours after the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott, 43, who police say was armed and ignored several commands to drop his weapon.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney, at a news conference Wednesday, rejected claims Scott was holding a book, not a gun, and said the gun had been recovered by detectives. No book was found, Putney added.

Now for the uninformed, there would be the ignorant assumption that this was a conservative white chief in a conservative city protecting his officers. Nothing could be further from the truth. That this is the second most liberal city in North Carolina, and the Putney is black points to the truth of the matter.

Cops are not a race, and these murders are not racial. This black man was shot by a black officer because he pointed his gun at him. If he had complied, he would not have died.

Pray for the business owners of Charlotte, and the officers who will be
trying to protect the city from looters.
