On Thursday during a regular White House press conference after Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders talked about President Trump’s plan to end DACA, and the government’s response to Hurricane Harvey, the nation learned something shocking about President Trump’s personal efforts to help in Texas.

After Huckabee Sanders got some negative feedback from Trump’s seeming decision to change/end DACA, she was asked about what the Trump family was doing, personally, to help the folks in Texas.

It was there that the White House Press Secretary got the chance to prove just how much “empathy” our President has for the hurting…

I had a chance to speak directly with the president earlier and I am happy to tell you that he would like to join in the efforts that a lot of the people we’ve seen across this country do and he’s pledging a million dollars of personal money to the fund.

And he’s actually asked that I check with the folks in this room since you are very good at research and have been doing a lot of reporting into the groups and organizations that are best and most effective in helping and providing aid and he would like some suggestions from the folks here.

And I would be happy to take those if any of you have them.

But as I said, he’ll pledge, proudly, a million dollars of his own personal money to help the people of both Texas and Louisiana.

Wow.

1 Million dollars of his own personal money to help the victims of the hurricane.

That’s more money in charity at one moment than President Obama and VP Joe Biden have given, combined, over the last 10 years.

I wonder if the President’s generosity will earn him any good will from the media? It’d be nice if it could buy him at least a week of positive press coverage, but since that’s probably impossible… couldn’t we get just a few days of neutral coverage?

Maybe the press could just be nice to him for a day?

Probably not…
