In this new world of endless streams of information, there are going to be struggles over freedom, and the limitations of corporate control.
For years, Silicon Valley has been throwing “terms and agreements” down our throats in such a way as to almost guarantee that they aren’t read. In fact, I’m sure there are creative lawyers out there just waiting for the first case to crack that little goldmine open, spilling forth all sorts of settlements in which they get to rave in front of the court about the 4th amendment. Just like in the John Grisham books.
But, in those agreements, we have signed away the rights to our content. Our opinions and ideologies are all harvested and turned into cash by the data peddlers of Silicon Valley, all while these millennial millionaires and billionaires steer the country to the left through censorship, shadow banning, and propaganda.
The President has had enough.
President Donald Trump accused Google on Tuesday of altering search results to prioritize negative coverage and left-leaning outlets and warned that the issue “will be addressed.”
Trump said in a tweet that the tech giant’s search engine had “rigged” news story results to show mostly “bad” stories about him and other conservatives.
“Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media,” the president said.
“In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out.”
Trump added: “Illegal? 96% of … results on ‘Trump News’ are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!”
While this isn’t the first time that the President has addressed the controversy over Free Speech on these platforms, this is certainly the most direct language that he’s used so far.
