Portland Police Choose Political Correctness Over Public Safety

In the world of law enforcement, one would think that the policing would be best left to the actual police.

That hasn’t always been the case, however, thanks to the liberal deluge of delusional thinking known as political correctness.

This scourge of thought-crime aggression has led to a total perversion of our justice system, both in the social spectrum and in the very literal sense of right and wrong.  The liberal left would love for Americans to ignore cultural realities and equality, and instead focus on whimsical fantasy worlds where equalization works.  This is all a part of their larger plan to rewrite the First Amendment to only protect speech that is unoffensive; the literal antithesis of the sacred right’s intent.

This bizarre and unwieldy plan to capsize the basis of American freedom has now found its way into the pantheons of police work in Portland, and its invasive cultural ignorance is putting law enforcement, and the citizens that they are sworn to protect, in harm’s way.

“On October 15th, police officers in Portland, Oregon will no longer have the means to tag known gang members with an official ‘gang designation.’ The Portland Police Department has decided to stop identifying gang members and purge the gang member database it has developed over the last 20 years.

“According to The Oregonian, before this decision to change policy was made, ‘Police were able to add someone to the list if the person self-identified as a member of a gang, participated in a gang initiation ritual, committed a gang-related crime or displayed two or more observable signs of gang membership.’

“The ability to track gang designations is obviously beneficial to police. Basic common sense tells us there are huge benefits in knowing more about a suspected perpetrator. Known gang affiliations help police officers know where to look for suspects, narrow lists of possible accomplices, and ask the right people the right questions.

“Despite these benefits, community organizers in Portland have strongly expressed dissatisfaction with identifying and labeling individuals as ‘gang’ members because they believe this has ‘disproportionately affected minorities.’ The Sentencing Project notes that despite making up just 13% of the population in Oregon, African Americans represent 38% of the state’s penitentiary inmates. Additionally, 21% of Oregon’s prisoners are Hispanic, despite making up only 17% of the population. Known violent gangs like the Bloods, Crips, and MS-13 are not known as racially diverse groups, but rather have specific race-based identities.”

Once again, we have the liberal ideology attempting to replace reality in a situation where people’s lives are very literally at stake.

Not only will police officers now have fewer tools with which to protect Portland, but this redaction of important criminal information will put many gang-affiliated youth at risk as well.  By negating to note the alliances of these young men and women, police officers will be unable to provide the necessary support to young people who may be attempting to exit the violence and mayhem of the organized crime world.

Political correctness in Portland will assuredly cost innocent lives, and for that, liberals should be wholly ashamed.
