Petition Demands That Britney Spears Statues Replace Confederate Memorials

America is in the midst of an intriguing shift in the way our popular culture treats our historical reality.

Stemming from the terrifying events of the Battle of Charlottesville 10 days ago, a number of warring groups have taken to the airwaves to demand that the American people revise the way in which we celebrate history.  Most notably is the argument over how best to display the symbols, the events, and the people of the Civil War.

For over 150 years, Americans have looked back at the Civil War as a dismal time in our nation’s history, but only recently has that dark cloud been cast solely by the northern distortion of the conflict’s impetus.  You see, slavery was not the primary reason for the war between the states, but that narrative plays well to democratic voters whose bleeding hearts yearn for social justice.  The institution of slavery, while inherently evil, has been incorrectly attributed to the south, and therefore, American conservatives by proxy, allowing democrats and other leftists to resort to political arguments originating long before even our great grandparents were alive.

After Charlottesville, the radical left took it upon themselves to declare war on symbols of the Confederacy, deeming them all automatically racist on account of their own miseducation on the subject of the Civil War.  This has led to a number of vigilante groups attempting to remove statues and memorials without relying on the proper municipal channels.

Now, a new group has joined the fray, arguing that they have a solution to the issue.

“Fans of Britney Spears want to immortalize the iconic LIVE singer by replacing confederate monuments in her home-state with statues of the pop star.

“A petition on was created to get the ball rolling.

“‘Before becoming one of the world’s most important and influential pop legends, Britney Spears was living life in a small southern town by the name of Kentwood, Louisiana,’ it reads. ‘Not only has Britney proven her talent, but she’s proven her strength of character by not only overcoming highly publicized mental breakdown, but by continuously working towards improving herself. She’s an inspiration to millions.'”

“Then… the brilliant call to action: ‘Do the right thing: Replace the Confederate statues with an actual Louisiana hero and influencial human being, Britney Spears.'”

This may be the most ludicrous suggestion of the week, and that’s saying something.

We have all been inundated by the old adage that we are doomed to repeat history if we refuse to recognize and respect it.  In the case of these Antifa twerps and their anti-historical vision for our nation, their ignorance will likely trickle down into future generations who will no doubt create another grand American conflict due to their own inability to understand what our nation has already endured.

No amount of Britney Spears statues can change that.
