Oregon Standoff Defendants Acquitted On All Charges

Most people have little if any idea why the Bundy brothers and others occupied “federal land” in Oregon. Most think that these men are just militia cooks trying to overthrow the government. But, this is the effects of two things.

The first I have written about before; bad education. Most of us were given one course in Civics and have no idea how bad the tyranny has gotten in the western states. Vast swaths of land have been gobbled up by our federal government. And most of us do not realize why this is a bad thing.

The reason this is bad is that it is illegal. Our Constitution forbids the federal purchase of land. The only purpose given for the federal occupation or purchase of land is for the use of necessary facilities. So then, the occupation of “federal reserves” are illegal.

The second reason for this is the idea that we must have a well-maintained militia to preserve our liberty. This idea has been suppressed and ignored. Our well maintain militias were to be the responsibility of the states and the local government. This has been taken over by the federal government.

But, there was a win for liberty and the Constitution as a jury has acquitted the major players of the occupation.

Oregon Live reported

A federal jury on Thursday found Ammon Bundy, his brother Ryan Bundy and five co-defendants not guilty of conspiring to prevent federal employees from doing their jobs through intimidation, threat or force during the 41-day occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

The Bundy brothers and occupiers Jeff Banta and David Fry also were found not guilty of having guns in a federal facility. Kenneth Medenbach was found not guilty of stealing government property, and a hung jury was declared on Ryan Bundy’s charge of theft of FBI surveillance cameras.

This is a win because these men drew attention to the mishandling and the illegal occupation of these lands. The persistent problem is that the people that stand the most to gain from this fight for liberty are not aware that these men were standing for them.
