The left probably should have known better than to pin the face of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to the public image of the democratic party so early in our nation’s “getting to know her” phase.
As with any real political, Ocasio-Cortez could very likely be on the “say one thing, do another” program, particularly due to her professed love of democratic socialism – an idea whose time has come and gone, and then come and gone again, in any number of locales around the globe. Socialism, Marxism, Communism – whatever you want to call the idea of wealth redistribution and basic income – they’ve all failed out there in the real world, killing millions along the way.
And, yes, when I say “all”, I mean “ALL”.
Now, in digging into the young politic hopeful’s short past, it hasn’t taken long to find some strange opinions on the world at large…opinions that run counter to the liberal darlings current trendy ride on the socialism bandwagon.
During her days at Boston University, she co-founded a student-run publication called Culture Shock. Fox News reviewed some of the posts she wrote there and found some fascinating things.
In one blog post from 2009, Ocasio-Cortez wrote that she “believes” in “Adam Smith’s analyses.”
“Ocasio-Cortez’s claim of being a follower of a pro-capitalist economist will surely raise questions about her authenticity, as Smith, the 18th century Scottish economist, advocated free-market capitalism and opposed government regulations – contrary to what Ocasio-Cortez, a card-carrying Democratic Socialists of America member, now pitches on the campaign trail,” Fox reports.
And, even more disturbing where her thoughts on feminism.
In a 2009 blog post, Ocasio-Cortez called feminism into question, writing that “the terms ‘feminism’ and ‘empowerment’ don’t seem to capture the priorities of our generation, and the words themselves sound like relics from the past, frumpy and outdated.”
“We no longer live in the same fight for equality of prior generations, we have moved to the widely accepted reality that marginalizing 50% of a given population doesn’t make much sense, mathematically or socially,” she wrote.
“We no longer live in the same fight for equality of prior generations.”
So, is it particularly shocking to find out that Ocasio-Cortez is a total fraud on the subject? Not really. Is it shocking to hear that she also opposed feminism as an archaic cause? Sure, a little bit.
But what’s not shocking is the fact that yet another democrat has been outed as a major hypocrite.
