Mr. Clarke Goes To Washington: Sheriff David Clarke Joining Homeland Security

While the mainstream media is busy attacking the leader of the free world over thoroughly debunked ties to Russia, POTUS is getting serious about homeland security.

Not only is the President planning to directly address followers of the Muslim faith, many believe in an appeal to reign in their radicalized brethren, but the Trump travel bans are due back in court in the coming days.  As the pundits continue their self-aggrandizing pontification, the President is quite simply at work.

Now, a famous, firebrand conservative figure is set to join the Trump administration via the Department of Homeland Security, and a great many Americans couldn’t be happier.

“Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. will leave office next month to accept a federal appointment as an assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

“He will work in the department’s Office of Partnership and Engagement as a liaison with state, local and tribal law enforcement and governments.

“‘I’m looking forward to joining that team,’ Clarke said Thursday afternoon on the Vicki McKenna talk show on 1130 WISN Radio.

“Clarke said one of his responsibilities would be to ‘take complaints of shortcomings in the Department of Homeland Security.’

“‘They feel like they’re being ignored,’ Clarke said of his counterparts in local law enforcement.”

Clarke’s unique perspective is one that has likely been lost within the hastily arranged Department of Homeland Security.

In the wake of the horrific attacks of September 11th that decimated the World Trade Center and The Pentagon, the federal government sprung into action creating both the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration.  While the latter has been widely lambasted as an enormous and ineffective waste of taxpayer money, the DHS hasn’t always been on the receiving end of positive praise either.  Many believe that the formation of these two agencies equated to an overreach of the feds that coincided with a dangerous unwillingness to further train our existing law enforcement personnel.

Hopefully, under the experienced and watchful eye of Sheriff David Clarke, the DHS and local law enforcement can foster a relationship of symbiotic authority in order to combat the plethora of challenges that we are sure to face in the coming years.
