Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke: “Progressive Left has Put My Citizens in Harm’s Way”!

Over the weekend the city of Milwaukee and the surrounding communities exploded in chaos after the police involved shooting death of a 23-year old black man who was armed and fleeing from police. Sheriff Clarke, like many Americans, was absolutely stunned that the death of an armed criminal who was fleeing justice could spark unrest, while the murder of innocents and the crime and corruption that is daily in the news, continues to be met by shrugging liberal shoulders.

On Monday, Sheriff Clarke penned an op-ed in the Hill explaining why he laid the blame for the riot and for much of the mass violence of the last couple of years, squarely at the feet of the left-wing of the Democrat Party.

The Milwaukee riots should be the last time the policies of liberal Democrats are held up as anything other than misery-inducing, divisive, exploitative and racist manipulation of the urban populations. Unfortunately they won’t.

As Sheriff of Milwaukee County, I am furious that the progressive left has put my citizens in harm’s way and that I had to send my officers into cauldrons of anarchy and hatred that were created by the left.

As an elected public servant I am livid that Milwaukee’s pathetic, kowtowing city officials and aldermen take this opportunity to abandon their citizens and preen before the Black Lives Matter-enabling media.

Clarke then went on to dissect what is really the root cause of these troubles, and it has everything to do with the divisive and failed policies of liberals, which have left an entire segment of American society quite without hope of escaping their circumstances. Sheriff Clarke concluded by urging poor, minority Democrat voters to end the vicious cycle, to cast off the failures of the left, and to embrace the path to true prosperity.

The actions were the manifestation of a population with no hope, no stake in the American dream that could provide advancement and purpose and pride of self. They are the ones lied to, exploited by and ultimately manipulated by the Democrats who claim to care. They are victims of the left, but they are not without blame. It’s time for them to remember their own humanity, their own dignity, and to fight for that return to the American Dream that the left would withhold from them.

It was a scathing and honest indictment of the tactics that have long been used by the political left in our country, sadly, because those same liberal agitators live in a world apart. They will hear nothing but the sounds of their own breathless sanctimony as they cheer on lawlessness while criticizing our lawkeepers.

You can see the palpable frustration on Sheriff Clarke’s face during the press conference he gave in the aftermath of the violence.

You can see the contentious press conference that Sheriff Clarke held when explaining why he was so “quick” to request help from the National Guard.

“We cannot allow for a repeat of what happened Saturday night,” the Milwaukee County Sheriff said in a statement coinciding with his Sunday morning request. “I am going to utilize all available resources to accomplish that.”

We desperately need more Sheriff Clarkes and fewer Al Sharptons if our nation hopes to heal our current racial-political divide any time soon. 🇺🇸

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
