The democrats have had an awful track record of supplying themselves with unqualified candidates in recent years, and 2020 looks like it will be more of the same.
In 2016, of course, we had the corrupt and incorrigible Hillary Clinton emerge as the democratic frontrunner. “Emerge” is a bit of a misnomer; Clinton was found to have been colluding with the DNC in order to become the nominee after discovering that Bernie Sanders was set to soundly slaughter her in the primaries. Clinton, beyond being burdened by a closet full of skeletons the size of Yankee Stadium, was herself not well. Numerous reports emerged from within the Clinton camp of fainting episodes, seizure-like behavior, and possible Parkinson’s Disease diagnoses.
Her challenger, Bernie Sanders, may have seemed a bit healthier, but was still considered a bit of an elder statesmen at 75 years old and slightly hunched – perhaps not quite fit enough for the rigors of the White House.
Now, 78 year old Maxine Waters has thrown her hat into the ring for a possible 2020 run, which would occur after her 80th birthday. Or has she?
“’I’m not running for anything but my own seat. I don’t have any presidential aspirations. If the millennials want me to do it, I’d do it, though.’”
Maxine Waters calling on the opinions of the malleable and inexperienced millennials may be one of the most absurd suggestions in politics this year. How Waters could possibly relate to these clueless voters who are hellbent on “social justice” and rewriting the 1st Amendment to abolish “triggering” is beyond understanding.
Waters went on to contradict herself, in the grand democratic tradition of hypocrisy:
“Maxine Waters has been on the forefront of the Democratic Party’s most heated statements about the Donald Trump presidency. The California congresswoman said Trump was the most ‘disrespectful’ and ‘disgusting’ person she has ever seen, called for his impeachment (despite denying it), and said the president should ‘do the country a favor and resign.’
“’I said, jokingly, “If the millennials wanted me to do it, I’d do it,”‘ Waters commented to The Hill on Thursday. ‘But it’s a joke.'”
It isn’t often that we’d agree with Waters, but yes, her possible 2020 run is a joke.
Once again, we see that the withered and ancient face of the democratic party doesn’t match the lanky, post-adolescent body of their voters. Clinton, Sanders, and Waters are all longtime politicians with no grounding in American middle-class society…no matter how often they attempt to convince us of such. Sure, Trump isn’t exactly your average American, but he hasn’t yet been tainted by the diseases of the Washington swamp the way that these liberal demagogues have.
In short, we don’t know if Maxine Waters will run for president in 2020. We imagine that Waters herself won’t know if she’s running either until she loses in the primaries 3 years from now.
