The new rage in liberal propaganda these days is the installation of offensive or nonsensical statues in prominent public places.
The originator, of course, is the Fearless Girl statue that has been installed in a frozen, bronze showdown with the Wall Street Charging Bull as a publicity stunt by a financial firm, meant to exploit the sudden rise in temporary feminism on the left in the wake of the “million” woman march on Washington during Donald Trump’s inauguration. That statue itself, which has been widely criticized both by art critics and the sculptor of the original Charging Bull, has been accessorized twice: Once with the statues of a small dog relieving itself on her shoes, and once when she was made to wear a burka.
There were also a litany of nude, sculptural depictions of then-candidate Donald Trump installed in several cities across the nation in late 2016, in the run up to the general election. These crude pieces of “art” were removed nearly immediately due to their lewd nature, but showed Americans that sculpture politics were here to stay.
Now, Chicago is getting in on the action. Of course, that action is coming directly from the left side of American politics, and of course, it is once again aimed squarely at now-President Donald Trump.
“The Windy City is under fire for apparently turning public art into a political message.
“The City of Chicago installed a 5-foot tall, golden sculpture that spells out ‘Real Fake’ directly in front of Trump International Hotel and Tower in the city’s busy downtown area, along the Chicago River.
“A city spokesperson said the message and placement of the art is not a political statement. It was just, the spokeswoman said, coincidence.
“’Any questions about the artist’s intention or the artwork’s background should be directed to the artist’s gallery Kavi Gupta,’ wrote Christine Carrino, the communications director for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
“The statue is bolted into a large public sidewalk space in front of Trump Tower, an area that over the past year has been commonly used for Trump protesters who gather to demonstrate and for tourists and supporters who want a picture in front of the glistening blue sky scraper.”
Perhaps the most alarming information contained within this story is the realization that the City of Chicago installed the derogatory artwork themselves.
The so-called “resistance” movement to Donald Trump’s presidency has continued to evolve in ever-more concerning ways. While the “real fake” statue being placed directly in front of one of the President’s properties is in no way being justified as a coincidence, we are beginning to learn that even formerly world-class cities such as Chicago can be coerced by their liberal leaders into cheap and pathetic publicity stunts.
