Thanks in no small part to the freedom of information on the internet, the liberal media is falling apart before our very eyes.
The bias and the anger of the mainstream media has been more apparent than ever, as these vicious and vitriolic faux-journalists react to the Trump presidency in increasingly desperate ways. The “resistance” to the Commander in Chief and all that he stands for has tainted the supposedly neutral coverage of politics in this country, with Americans dividing into at least two camps: Those who follow the free press online with a bit of Fox News for good measure, and everybody else.
In an era where Donald Trump has allowed closet conservatives to stand tall in America once again, this media malarky has been under increased scrutiny over the course of the last year. This, in turn, has led to a number of left-leaning networks being forced to take drastic measures.
Now, two more giants of the liberalism clan are facing financial hardship, with layoffs looming.
“BuzzFeed will restructure its business team, resulting in layoffs of about 100 people, and the transition of the company’s president to the role of senior advisor.
“Company CEO Jonah Peretti said in a memo Wednesday that BuzzFeed needed to shift away from direct advertising sales to more diverse revenue streams. The company will search for a chief operating officer with that goal in mind, Peretti wrote.
“New leadership would come as President Greg Coleman transitions to an advisory role. He was president for 3½ years, Peretti wrote.
“The layoffs, previously reported by The Wall Street Journal, follow an earlier Journal report that BuzzFeed’s revenue may fall up to 20 percent short of forecasts this year. The revenue shortfall is expected to delay BuzzFeed’s hotly anticipated initial public offering, according to the Journal’s sources.”
Buzzfeed rose to prominence by promoting clickbait “list” style articles via Facebook’s early paid-advertising programming, often being skewered by the mainstream media for their absurdly specific lists. The leftist cabal was also involved in the first iteration of the Russian “dossier” scandal in which unverifiable rumors surrounding the President’s behavior in Moscow were released to the public by the so-called “media” without any truth to be gleaned from them.
On the other end of the liberal spectrum is ESPN, the “sports” network that has taken a shine to “resistance” politicking in recent months.
In a memo by President John Skipper, the struggling cable network offers a weak explanation for the move:
“‘Today we are informing approximately 150 people at ESPN that their jobs are being eliminated.’
“‘We appreciate their contributions, and will assist them as much as possible in this difficult moment with severance, a 2017 bonus, the continuation of health benefits and outplacement services. They will also appreciate your support.’
“‘The majority of the jobs eliminated are in studio production, digital content, and technology and they generally reflect decisions to do less in certain instances and re-direct resources.’
“‘We will continue to invest in ways which will best position us to serve the modern sports fan and support the success of our business.'”
Americans are simply not willing to invest their hard earned time into blatantly biased coverage of the world around them, especially as the internet continues to promote free press institutions such as the one you are currently visiting.
