A beautiful scene played itself out in a charmingly liberal Washington, D.C. restaurant this past weekend. The restaurant is called Busboys and Poets and is known for supporting liberal causes, but during the Inauguration celebrations they were able to experience a bit of truth too.
It all started when three white Republican men from West Texas walked into the restaurant and met their waitress, Rosalynd Harris. Harris works hard and obviously made an impression on her customers. She told the Washington Post that “They chatted warmly. They told her they were from West Texas. One was a dentist and complimented her on her smile. They were jovial and fun. She admits now that she probably prejudged them, assuming they were in town for President Trump’s inauguration.”
Harris admitted that she had prejudged the men. Harris said that as a liberal D.C. dweller she obviously had a certain picture in her mind of how Republicans would act, particularly those inclined to travel across the country to attend the inauguration of Donald Trump.
She now sees how wrong she was.
After an apparently nice time at the restaurant, the men left, but left Ms. Harris something to remember them by.
On their check was a note and a HUGE tip for Harris. On a bill of $72.60, the men left Harris a $450 tip, but it’s the note that will stick with Harris. “This definitely reshaped my perspective. Republican, Democrat, liberal are all subcategories to what we are experiencing. It instills a lot of hope,” Harris said.
“We may come from different cultures and may disagree on certain issues, but if everyone would share their smile and kindness like your beautiful smile, our country will come together as one people. Not race. Not gender. Just American. God Bless!”

A beautiful sentiment at a time when we need more random acts of kindness and love.
They teach those guys in West Texas to do things right. Way to go guys!
