The world is not a safe space by any stretch of the imagination, and allowing our young men and women to believe so will only harm their future growth as humans.
None of that matters to the world of higher education, however, who are simply hoping to hang on to our children for 4 or 8 years in order to make a small fortune off of the aseptic experience that they are offering. In order to appeal to the most diverse crowd possible, academia has taken a bizarrely liberal stance on nearly every social issue imaginable, from Black Lives Matter all the way to the First Amendment.
Now, in an even more divisive and over-sanitary move designed to destroy diversity and cash in on our nation’s snowflakes, colleges across the nation have begun regulating Halloween costumes on campus.
“Throughout October, universities across the nation are warning their students against Halloween costumes some consider offensive.
“Gone are the days when college students could dress up without fear of being reported to a bias response team. In recent years, more and more campus leaders have made it their mission to warn students what not to wear.
“Fliers, memos, workshops and more impart the admonitions.
“’Unacceptable costumes’ listed on a University of St. Thomas diversity flier are ‘wearing Native American headdresses, dressing up as a “Mexican” by wearing a sombrero, dressing as a “geisha,” any form of blackface.’
“’Cultural appropriation is defined as “the act of taking intellectual and cultural expressions from a culture that is not your own, without showing that you understand or respect the culture,”‘ explains a University of St. Thomas diversity memo to students.”
It doesn’t take much to see that this sort of sanitizing of cultural overlap is really nothing more than pre-segregation being perpetrated by an increasingly discriminatory liberalism.
In telling Americans that they are only allowed to wear costumes that relate to their own culture, the radical left is simply segregating and discriminating against all cultures. They are saying to the youth of the nation “you are only you, and that is all you can ever be“.
If that’s not bigotry, I don’t know what is.
