Donald Trump, by all measures, is an unconventional President, coming from a business background with some serious celebrity credentials to boot.
During the election of 2016, in which we learned that the left was ready for all-out war against conservatism, a number of wild claims came flying out of the mouths of Hollywood’s more outspoken and notorious personalities. Many Tinsel Townies declared that, should Trump take the Oval Office, they would be moving away from America in a hurry. Of course, none of them actually followed through with this threat…unfortunately.
Also, in what was surely a publicity stunt, and possibly made up on the spot, musician and loudmouth Kanye West announced that he would be running for President in 2020. Given West’s obnoxiously manufactured eccentricities, the threat of have to endure his campaign for President seems unlikely to come to fruition.
Now, however, another celebrity is considering throwing his hat into the ring, and this time, it looks to be someone with at least half of a brain.
“After conquering Hollywood, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson may have his sights set on the White House.“The actor and former pro wrestler tells GQ that he thinks a presidential run is ‘a real possibility.’
“Johnson says if he were president, ‘poise’ and ‘leadership’ would be top priorities.
“Johnson would have at least one high-profile backer in NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer, who tells GQ he’d vote for Johnson ‘without a question.’”
Johnson’s politics are still fairly innocuous, as his public persona has refrained from making many statements on currents events. The one exception has been his opposition to Donald Trump’s travel ban, for which the former professional wrestler has no taste for.
The Rock wouldn’t be the first denizen of the squared circle to run for political office. Most recently, former wrestler Jesse “The Body” Ventura ran for, and was elected governor of Minnesota before promptly going off the deep end to promote wild conspiracy theories and pursue a posthumous lawsuit against American Sniper Chris Kyle. The lawsuit would have drained the bank account of Kyle’s widowed wife – a move that many have seen as cruel and petty.
