During a press conference at the University of Delaware on Monday, where former Vice President Joe Biden was officially launching the new Biden Institute (which will focus on civic engagement), Biden told the gathered reporters that President Trump “deserves a chance to govern.”
A reporter actually asked the former VP IF the President “deserved a chance to govern,” but to his credit Biden’s response was immediate.
“Sure he does. That’s exactly why you haven’t seen the president on any of the shows. I mean if I was able to charge, you guys would pay me a lot of money to come on the shows — not a joke. That’s why you haven’t heard anything from us about that. He deserves a chance and in fairness to him, this is a man in my view, who understandably like all the press thought, didn’t think he was gonna win. We had, 9 months out, we put together a team that John Podesta headed up. A transition team…
So we knew if we won who we were gonna ask to do A, B, C, and D. What our priorities were going to be. In fairness to him, I don’t think there was thought to be any necessity to do that. He should be given a chance. It’s too early to judge.”
Now, sure, some of Biden’s commentary was couched in some pretty condescending attitudes, like suggesting that Trump was never a “serious” candidate, but look past that and see the olive branch that Biden is offering us. If the mass of his party would agree to “give” Trump “a chance to govern,” wouldn’t that immediately make the tension and the anger in our nation dissipate? If only the radical left would pull back on their aggression and their constant attacks, wouldn’t it give Americans an opportunity to see what Trump is doing and decide whether or not they are with him? Instead most of America is being forced to make a snap decision between violent, rioting leftists and a President who seems to have no filter on the things he says.
I don’t often agree with Joe Biden, but on this occasion i’ll echo his sentiments and ask… can’t liberals just give him “a chance” to govern, before they condemn his presidency to the ash heap of history?
He really can’t be any worse than the last President.
