There is a growing tension between Rex Tillerson’s State Department and the White House, according to a bevy of inside sources.
This is, of course, nothing new for the Trump administration, who have been putting on a master’s level class in crisis management for the entire first year of The Donald’s presidency. From the democratic “resistance” to the insurgence of RINO republicans such as Mitch McConnell and John McCain, Trump and his loyal staffers have been taking flack nonstop since they stepped foot inside the White House.
This has led to several high level shakeups and dismissals, including a massive exodus of senior level advisors just weeks into term numero uno.
Now, it looks as though Rex Tillerson, the Secretary of State, is getting involved in the action with a decision regarding Ivanka Trump’s upcoming itinerary.
“Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is not sending a high-level delegation to support first daughter Ivanka Trump on her trip to Hyderabad, India between November 28-30 for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).
“The news of Tillerson’s decision to withhold high-level support for Ivanka arrives in the midst of increased tension between Tillerson and the White House. CNN first reported this news.
“’They (Tillerson and his staff) won’t send someone senior because they don’t want to bolster Ivanka,’ an unnamed senior State Department official told CNN. ‘It’s now another rift between the White House and State at a time when Rex Tillerson doesn’t need any more problems with the President.’
“The source reportedly added, ‘No one higher than the deputy assistant secretary is allowed to participate’ and noted that ‘Rex doesn’t like the fact that he’s supposed to be our nation’s top diplomat, and Jared and now Ivanka have stepped all over Rex Tillerson for a long time. So now, he’s not sending senior people from the State Department to support this issue. He’s not supporting Ivanka Trump.’”
With Trump’s willingness to shuffle his staff at the drop of a hat, this source’s admission regarding Tillerson’s anger could very likely spell the end for the Secretary of State, and Rex certainly understands that.
Could Rex Tillerson be openly defecting by allowing this information to leak? Or is there still some swamp left to drain over at the State Department?
