When President Obama explained the rationale behind the Administration’s decision to make a deal with Iran, no one believed them. Forget the fact that the Iranians were off of the trade list of most countries and suffering from UN sanctions. No one thought that Iran would ever hold to the deal. And no one thought that Iran was close to declaring war on America or their allies.
Now, rather than a more agreeable and docile Iran, we might actually be facing a bolder more aggressive Iran. An Aggressive Islamic Terror supporter with Russian money and weapons. Not to mention the Millions we gave to them. And then there is the threat to shoot down our planes in international air space.
Iran threatened to shoot down two US Navy surveillance aircraft flying close to Iranian territory in the Persian Gulf over the weekend, the latest in a series of recent provocations between Iran and the US military in the region, three US defense officials with knowledge of the incident told Fox News.
On Sept. 10, a Navy P-8 Poseidon with a crew of nine and an EP-3 Eries with a crew of roughly 24, were flying a reconnaissance mission 13 miles off the coast of Iran, through the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman, according to officials who call the boundary Iran’s “black line.”
Iran’s territorial waters—like all nations–extend 12 miles into the sea, according to international maritime law.
This is just the latest in Iranian aggression. They have been poking the bear for over nine months. They took hostage American sailors. They have harassed our navy. And now they threaten to shoot down our planes? Planes that are within legal airspace.
This does not even consider the military advisers and the support of Hamas in Syria and Iraq. It seems that the Iranians are trying to find out how far this president will let them go.
If history is any indication, a long way.
