While it has always been readily apparent that CNN believes that American conservatives are far less intelligent than they are, I never really imagined that I would see one of their high level staffers say it for himself.
But that’s exactly what happened today as CNN’s Jim Acosta once again made headlines for himself by purposefully evoking colorful language and some wild ideas.
Acosta claimed that the Trump administration’s attacks on the media were all “an act” that the president’s supporters were too stupid to understand.
“The problem is that people around the country don’t know it’s an act. … They take what he says very seriously,” Acosta declared. “They take attacks from Sean Spicer and Sarah Sanders and what they do to us on a daily basis very seriously. They don’t have all their faculties in some cases. Their elevator may not hit all floors.”
“My concern is that a journalist is going to be hurt one of these days. Somebody’s going to get hurt,” Acosta continued. “And at that point, the White House, the President of the United States, they’re going to have to take a hard look in the mirror and ask themselves whether or not they played a role in this, whether they created this toxic environment that resulted in a journalist getting hurt.”
Oh, give me a break. Acosta has crumpled under the duress of the White House Press Briefing room before.
That’s not to say that Sarah Huckabee Sanders isn’t the Holy Mother of all of the West Wing’s tough, tough women, (she certainly is), but Acosta should have known better.
There is little doubt left that Acosta has seen an opportunity in the Trump administration, in which he believes that his inferred, liberal mental superiority will speak circles around the conservatives who are at the helm. This is where Acosta believes he’ll win his Pulitzer. All of this is certainly sure in Acosta’s mind, with only the great debate left over whether or not he’s earned the right to wear a bow tie at the gala.
Truly, Acosta has been a nuisance in the White House, and there is little evidence to suggest that his latest incredulous and inflammatory statements aren’t just enhancing his reputation among the CNN interns.
What’s even more bizarre is the fact that Acosta believes that this is all “an act” by President Donald Trump, insinuating that the Commander in Chief has the power to end this incessant criticism of himself and his administration at any time, but simply chooses to absorb the liberal abuse for an unknown reason.
