The Independent Media Myth Is Buried by Wikileaks

The pretense of the independent media should be dead and buried once and for all.

We all knew the supposed independent media was biased, but that is not incompatible with being independent. Everyone is biased, and while some biases are worse than others, it is not wrong to be biased.

The reason we refer to the independent media is that they are supposed to be unrelated to what they are reporting on. So, while we may know a reporter is likely to favor a Democrat over a Republican, the reporter should not be actively working with the Democrat behind the scenes.

In fact, working with the Democrats “behind the scenes” would be an act of knowing fraud. The journalist or organization is hiding how things really work to produce the façade of an independent media.

Trending: Science is Settled

Once again, Wikileaks has shown us that the independent media is a scam. CNN really is the Clinton News Network.

According to the Washington Examiner,

Newly released emails from WikiLeaks suggest that the Democratic National Committee colluded with CNN in devising questions in April to be asked of then-Republican primary candidate Donald Trump in an upcoming interview.

In an email to DNC colleagues on April 25 with the headline “Trump Questions for CNN,” a DNC official with the email username asked for ideas for an interview to be conducted by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer.

“Wolf Blitzer is interviewing Trump on Tues ahead of his foreign policy address on Wed. … Please send me thoughts by 10:30 AM tomorrow.”

The sender of the email would seem to be DNC Research Director Lauren Dillon, who was identified in previous reports of DNC emails released by WikiLeaks in July.

Several hours after the first email was sent, Dillon said in a follow-up email that the interview had been cancelled, “as of now,” but shared a list of questions thought up by the DNC that she said could be used for the next interview.

If the interview had aired, the questions would not have been identified as or perceived as coming from the opposition party. They would have presented as coming from an, supposedly, independent media. But the questions were from the DNC.

This is not the first time Wikileaks has exposed this kind of thing.

CNN “parted ways” with Donna Brazile when Wikileaks exposed her giving the Clinton campaign knowledge of debate questions.

Likewise, Wikileaks emails exposed Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank in the same way. According to the Daily Caller,

In the email — which was titled “research request: top 10 worst Trump quotes?” — Walker wrote, “Milbank doing a Passover-themed 10 plagues of Trump.”

The DNC research team worked together to come up with a list of things Milbank could use that was provided to Walker.

Of the 10 “plagues” listed by Milbank, eight of them matched up with suggestions from the DNC.

Again, what is supposedly the result of an independent media is actually produced by the opposing party. Thus, the value of the media is not independent research and analysis. Their value for the Democrats is their role in masking DNC propaganda as independent journalism and analysis.
