Immigration Truth and Hysteria

For eight years, all we heard from Barack Obama and his minions was that our border with Mexico was secure and that there were no problems with illegals crossing to the extent that conservatives portrayed.

However, a recent report would indicate that there has been a border problem that needs to be fixed.

From Fox News:

“In the tiny Arizona city of Douglas, a Border Patrol surveillance camera is trained on a 10-foot-high fence with Mexico. After a few seconds, footage shows a figure appearing out of nowhere and the fence suddenly opens to allow a pickup truck through. A car follows, and they speed off into adjoining neighborhoods while the makeshift gate slams shut.”

“The Wild West still has a foothold here, more than 100 years after gunslingers Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday called Douglas home. Only the outlaws are cartels and traffickers.”

“And while President Trump is vowing to step up enforcement and seal off the southern border, agents in Border Patrol say they are still grappling with fallout from the Obama years – which they contend allowed security problems like this to fester.’

“‘We weren’t allowed to do our job,’ Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, the border agents’ union, told Fox News.”

“Judd said the agency is now seeking a ‘restart’ after years of neglect.”

My husband knows a rancher who lives in southern Arizona near the Mexican border. This rancher has had nothing but constant trouble with the flood of illegal aliens and drug traffickers. He has had his vehicles stolen, horses stolen, his home broken into numerous times, his cattle slaughtered and he was even shot at while working his ranch. The situation is so bad that he sent his wife and two daughters to live with relatives further north. He is not alone. Many other ranchers in the area are experiencing the same thing and they all blame Obama for all of it.

While Americans who live in the Southwestern states live with the danger and threats of the flood of illegal aliens and drug traffickers, they understand the real problem and why the border needs to be secured, while others refuse to face the facts. For example, the Mexican government is adamantly opposed to President Trump’s proposed border wall and deportation of illegals. After all, the Mexican government is far better off by sending millions of their poorer people and criminals to the United States.

Now the Catholic Church in Mexico is calling Trump’s immigration policies ‘migrant terrorism’. Over the weekend the Archdiocese of Mexico published an article in a major publication that read in part:

“…not only the application of an inhuman legalism but a true act of terror.”

“Our undocumented brothers are afraid, their children suffer a real psychosis, while the Mexican authorities are not able to act, they only make statements and promises; their reactions are lukewarm, they also show fear, and worse, submission.”

“They are still waiting for the U.S. president to come to his senses, when he has demonstrated, since he was a candidate, that his method is precisely being unreasonable.”

“We do not see firmness in the defense of our sovereignty; we do not see dignity in dealing with our northern neighbor; we do not see effective strategies to help our compatriots; we do not see ability or intelligence in those responsible for dealing with this humanitarian crisis.”

Seems that the Catholic Church in Mexico needs to look at their own country before criticizing ours. According to January 2015 report, the US only deported 104,688 illegals in 2014 while Mexico deported 107,199 illegals just from Central America. Mexico takes a much harsher stand on people entering their country illegally but they don’t want the US to do the same.

Chris Cabrera of the National Border Patrol Council points out the hypocrisy between what Mexico does and what they want us to do. In an interview, speaking of Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto, Cabrera stated:

“It’s defies logic on his stance on how we should be as strong as they are.”

It also defies logic when the Mexican Archdiocese accuses the US and President Trump of being un-humanitarian and committing an act of terrorism for wanting to protect our country and take as hard of a stand on illegal aliens as their own country does. They are just repeating the liberal hysteria that has been pervading the media and liberal circles.

Thus, you have just a small taste of the truth and hysteria surrounding the immigration problem facing America. Hopefully, President Trump will take enough action to secure the border and make America safer again.
