Hilariously, our nation’s recent cold snap had been blamed on “global warming”, according to the liberal left. Finally, someone has explained to them that this isn’t how “warming” works.
The progressive left has long been upholding the idea of manmade global warming as the single greatest threat facing our world today. Not terrorism. Not Fascism. Not censorship. Nope, the left seems to think that we eat too many steaks and drive too many cars, and this is somehow making the entire planet far too hot for any of us to survive.
Tell that to the millions of Americans who suffered through a cold snap for the ages beginning just before the Christmas holiday and lasting until just this week. Temperatures had plummeted, shattering records and sending our nation into shivering fits the likes of which we had never seen. This extreme cold was caused by “global warming”, according to the left, through the use of semantic gymnastics that would have made Joseph Goebbels himself proud.
You see, the left has morphed their theory of “global warming” into a theory on “climate change”, transforming the verbiage to make themselves right once again. (This is the same technique they are using to brand their fellow countrymen “bigots” when they forget which of the 70-some mythical pronouns to use). By using the broader term, the left can pretend that global warming causes “extreme weather” – not just, you know, warming.
Even as these mostly millennial madmen hunkered down in their repurposed lofts with the hottest cup of artisan craft coffee that they could, they were figuratively shouting skyward from the comfort of their MacBooks about how this chilly spell was all due to “climate change”, aka, Global Warming.
Right on cue, science has arrived to put that nonsense to rest.
“Consider this cold comfort: A quick study of the brutal American cold snap found that the Arctic blast really wasn’t global warming but a freak of nature.
“Frigid weather like the two-week cold spell that began around Christmas is 15 times rarer than it was a century ago, according to a team of international scientists who does real-time analyses to see if extreme weather events are natural or more likely to happen because of climate change.
“The cold snap that gripped the East Coast and Midwest region was a rarity that bucks the warming trend, said researcher Claudia Tebaldi of the National Center for Atmospheric Research and the private organization Climate Central.
“‘It was very definitely strange, especially now,’ said study co-author Gabriel Vecchi of Princeton University. A century ago ‘it wouldn’t have been that strange. Things like this are becoming stranger.'”
Vecchi’s bizarre statement belies the plight of these hoodwinked harbingers of phony doom: They don’t actually know anything.
The idea that it is cold in winter is only “strange” if you have subscribed wholly to the farcical climate change conspiracy invented by the left. That’s precisely why “global warming” became “climate change”: It’s a subtle way for the left to slowly back out of the argument with plausible deniability. It’s despicable, and it’s a drain on the efficacy of our entire species.
