House Intelligence Committee Chair says FBI Not Cooperating, Pelosi calls Him a “Stooge”

I’m sure that Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA) knew there would probably come a day where his liberal colleagues attacked him for his political positions, but I doubt he ever considered that he’d be called a “stooge” by the House minority leader. Or that he’d have another Democrat demand an investigation into his activities, or that another would essentially call him a puppet of someone else.

However, today, Nunes has had all of this occur and it’s because he found something he wasn’t supposed to discover.

On Wednesday, Rep. Nunes announced that he had found some “troubling” information that seemed to confirm President Trump’s fears that he and his campaign team had been under government surveillance. Today, Nunes doubled-down and explained to the press what he had found and that the FBI had suddenly become reticent in complying with his committee’s investigation.

“We don’t actually know yet officially what happened to General Flynn. We just know that his name leaked out but we don’t know how it was picked up yet. That was one of the things that we asked for in the March 15th letter, was for the NSA, CIA, and FBI to get us all the unmasking that was done. And I’ll tell you, NSA is being cooperative but so far the FBI has not told us whether or not they’re going to respond to our March 15th letter, which is now a couple of weeks old.”

Trending: The President’s Beef with Stormy Daniels SOMEHOW Got Dumber

Democrats, particularly the ranking member of his committee, Adam Schiff (D-CA), immediately responded with outrage that they had not been looped in to the announcement.

“First, I think it gravely concerning to the members of the committee that the chairman would receive information that is pertinent to the scope of our investigation and instead of sharing that information with the committee would share that information with the White House. The committee has still not received the intercepts or other information that the chairman is referring to and therefore it is really impossible for us to evaluate any of the merits of what the chairman has said. But I can say this: The chairman will need to decide whether he is the chairman of an independent investigation into conduct which includes allegations of potential coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russians, or he is going to act as a surrogate of the White House because he cannot do both.”

Here’s the problem with Schiff being upset. His committee is investigating the Russian government’s involvement in our politics over the last few months, Rep. Nunes made it clear that the information he found had NOTHING to do with Russia, so why would he have needed to discuss that information with Schiff?

For his part Nunes did apologize for this on Thursday morning, telling Democrats he would be more transparent with them moving forward.

House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) decided that she had found a bone to chew on and she wasn’t going to back down. Instead of accepting Nunes’ apology and asking to see the information he found… she called him a “stooge” and said that Nunes was “highly compromised.”

He was part of the Trump transition. All of this relates to the Trump transition by and large. I think it is very clear. He himself, I don’t know if that was a cry for help, or let me out of here, or whatever it was, but it was highly unusual. Outside the accepted behavior of a chairman of any committee.

Rep. Elijah Cummings was similarly dramatic and called for a congressional investigation into Nunes and his congressional investigation.

“The intelligence committee is a very special committee, they are privy to information most of the Congress may never see. You expect them to be extremely confidential. What he did was basically to go to the president, who’s being investigated by the FBI and others and by the intelligence committee, to give him information. Basically what he has done is he has scuttled and put a cloud over his own investigation, and he has become the subject, basically, or he should be, of his own investigation.”

It strikes me as INSANE that the Democrat Party cares more about Nunes’ reaction to the information he found obviously supporting President Trump’s fears that he was being monitored, than they do about the fact that Trump really did have a reason to be paranoid. Shouldn’t they care more about the fact that someone in the government WAS watching the Trump team? Shouldn’t they care more about the fact that the FBI Director just told them it wasn’t happening? Shouldn’t they care more about the fact that the FBI has suddenly become reticent to obey Congress?

The Democrats care more about politics than they do the truth and this current chaos is proof.

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
