‘He’s Going to Explode’: The FBI and the Broward County Police Failed our Kids

There is a lot of blame to go around to find out who failed the 17 dead students and teachers of Parkland, Florida’s, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, but the National Rifle Association is not among the culprits. Indeed the FBI and the Broward County Sheriff’s Department seem to be more at fault than any other entity. The FBI in particular had a warning that the killer was about to erupt in violence and they did nothing.

We now have a transcript of a shocking phone call that the Federal Bureau of Investigation recorded featuring a woman telling authorities that the Parkland high school killer was about to explode.

Contrary to previous claims where the FBI said they didn’t have enough information to track the killer down, this woman named Nikolas Cruz directly and even spelled his name clearly for agents, Jeff Dunetz wrote.

The caller started with a warning: “Something is gonna happen,” she said. “Because he’s, he doesn’t have the mental capacity. He can’t, he’s so outraged if someone talks to him about certain things.”

The woman next told the FBI that she had even called the Parkland Police Department and told them of her fears.

She added, “I just want someone to know about this so they can look into it, If they think it’s something worth going into, fine. If not, um, I just know I have a clear conscience if he takes off and, and just starts shooting places up.”

The worried woman also described in some detail what Cruz had on his social media accounts calling it a “red flag.

Not leaving any stone unturned, the woman also notified the agents that the killer had been kicked out of school for the troubles he had caused. She even mentioned his firearms.

What did the FBI do with this information? Apparently nothing at all. It just sat in the FBI’s database taking up space to little or no effect.

What good is “seeing someting,” and then “saying something,” if no one will bother listening?

But the FBI isn’t the only agency that dropped the ball. The Parkland Police and the Broward County Sheroff’s office were also told, numerous times, that this kid was unstable and had access to forearms.

As we reported here last week, the Broward Sheriff’s had been called repeatedly about this killer. The BSO also conducted no less than 23 calls at the places Cruz was living!

Still, nothing was done about this kid.

Finally, we also know that there was at least one Broward officer outside the school — and maybe as many as four — that didn’t go into the school to stop the killer as he carried out his rampage.

The fact is the NRA was nowhere to be seen during all this. They has precisely zero to do with this massacre. The failure can only be laid at the feet of the Broward Sheriffs, the Parkland Police, and the FBI, all of whom had prior knowledge that this kid was a danger to the community.

So, what is the real lesson here? Nikolas Cruz just showed us all that we can’t trust government to head off this sort of trouble. Cruz was brought to the attention of authorities so many times that it boggles the mind. Still, nothing was done about this troubled kid.

Next, we had at least one armed police officer right in the very school where this kid went on his rampage. But the cop — the guy that liberals say is the only one in this situation who should have been armed — turned into a coward and refused to intervene. And now we know that even the FBI was told in no uncertain terms that a teen named Nikolas Cruz was a powder keg about to explode.

And the authorities did nothing.

Yes, there is a lot of blame to go around. But none of it belongs on the shoulders of the NRA.
