The Second Amendment Is NOT A Tradition, Mr. Obama. It’s a Right!

Obama says, “I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms,” but it’s the remarks he surrounds that statement with that reveal his honest opinion.

“You’ve got the tradition of lawful gun ownership.” 2008 Democrat Debate

“We’ve got a long tradition of hunting and sportsmen and people who want to make sure they can protect themselves.” 2012 Democrat Debate

“although we have a strong tradition of gun ownership in this country,” Press Conference Jan. 2016

Here’s a little interesting fact for the “Constitutional scholar”, the 2nd Amendment is not part of the Bill of Traditions. It is a RIGHT!

Constitution-Gun-2ndThe 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, either. A Georgia state representative, who recently proposed a gun confiscation bill, stated, Assault weapons are not necessary for deer hunting.  Does he have no clue what a hunting rifle is? Regardless, according to the 2nd Amendment, that’s not the reason or right for having firearms anyway. It is specifically to ensure “the security of a free State” from tyranny, both foreign and domestic.

From the beginning of America, this country was carved out by people with a Bible in one hand and a gun in the other. The reason it worked was because the Bible guided them on how to behave with the gun. Progressives have been wildly successful in removing God from our schools, courts, media and society. Is it no coincidence that violence in all forms has escalated over the last 30 years?

The Wild West was a rough and untamed. You didn’t go anywhere without a six-shooter on your side. Civilians would even carry to church never knowing when the town might be infiltrated by wild animals, Indians, or gangs.

Through the 1950’s, students carried guns to school with many participating in target clubs in afterschool activities. It would be suicide to attack a school knowing the students could easily defend themselves. Now those students are fish in a barrel just waiting to be picked off.

There’s only one way to truly limit acts of evil and violence. You put guns in the hands of good people.

Detroit, one of the most violent cities in the country, has seen a dramatic change in their criminal activity because one man has stood up and faced the problem head on. When Chief James Craig arrived in the city, one of his first directives to the citizens was to arm themselves. This, along with Craig supporting his cops and helping them do their jobs instead of handcuffing them, has made a world of difference.

As a result, not only did Detroit’s crime decrease by double-digit percentages, so did homicides, from 55 per 100,000 in 2012 to 43 per 100,000 in 2015. Last year’s homicide rate was the lowest they’ve seen since 1967.

On any given weekend Chicago can meet or surpass the number of deaths and wounded that occurred in Orlando in the early morning of June 12, 2016. Where is the public outrage and calls for gun control there? The vast majority of this violence is black on black. Don’t “Black Lives Matter”? Obama sites Chicago when he is pushing gun control, but the outrage only occurs with a San Bernardino, Charleston or Orlando, when public emotion can be manipulated.

To know Obama’s real views, look at his own words. During the 2008 campaign, replying to a question about Republican attacks, Obama commented, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”  He knows the only way to combat an attacker is to have a better weapon. Is it no wonder he wants to take yours?

The fact is violence did not enter the world when the gun was invented.  History proves that.  Gun control just takes away the innocent people’s means of defense, from individuals and the government.

We have a God-given right to protect and defend ourselves. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Because once you give up that right, all your others evaporate over night.

But that’s just my 2 cents.
