This is infuriating.
A group of 25 children and their 2 adult chaperones went on a celebratory hike on Thursday, to mark the Bar Mitzvah of one of the children. The planned trip of Samarian children had been approved by the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) and was nowhere near any disputed Palestinian villages or territory.
At some point in the hike several dozen Arab rioters, who must have planned the attack in advance, arrived and began pelting the children with rocks and flaming debris.

At a certain stage dozens of Arab rioters began to attack the participants in a planned ambush. The rioters threw stones and rocks at the children and the youths, and the group was forced to take refuge along the steep cliffs nearby, thus facing danger to their lives both from the rocks thrown at them and the dangerous terrain.
Miraculously, the group found a cave in the area, where it hid until the arrival of the army. During the stay of the young men in the cave, the rioters attempted to enter the cave and lynch the hikers.
A military source said the boys were on a private bar mitzvah trip and were hiking from Migdalim toward Kida. Dozens of rioters then arrived in vehicles, attacked the boys and lightly injured three of them. A parent of one of the youths who was escorting the group was forced to open fire on the attackers.
The two adult escorts were armed and were forced to fire shots into the air in an effort to deter the attackers. It didn’t work, one of the guards was overwhelmed by the rioters, beaten, and had his gun taken from him as the group of children fled for the cliffs.
Eventually the IDF arrived and fought of the terrorists, rescuing the children and their guards. In the clash two of the Arab attackers were shot, one of them died at the scene and the other is being treated for his wounds. Three of the Jewish hikers were also wounded and receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan said of the attack, “I am sorry that this has to happen when a group of students wants to tour the area, and I give my support to the escorts, who were resourceful and protected the students’ lives with determined action against the rioters.”
This is the threat that Jewish families and their children face every day in Israel, even as the rest of the world continues to pretend that Israel is the aggressor. The reality is that the Jews are fighting for their survival, and it’s their opponents who are the aggressor.
